Summary
- EA Sports UFC 3 was shut down on February 17.
- The game was also delisted from the PlayStation and Xbox Stores on that date.
- UFC 3’s multiplayer servers remained online for over seven years, making it the longest-supported game in EA Sports’ series.
The online version of EA Sports UFC 3, Electronic Arts’ popular fighting game, has ceased operation after running for over seven years.
Electronic Arts (EA) is well-known for frequently publishing video games that offer multiplayer experiences. Given this, it’s also common for them to retire their games periodically. In fact, a considerable number of EA games were deactivated in January 2025, and even more are slated to be shut down this month.
The most recent game facing potential cancellation is EA Vancouver’s “EA Sports UFC 3”. On Monday, February 17th, their servers were shut down, effectively ending all multiplayer functionality for the game. At the same time, the game was removed from both the PlayStation and Xbox Stores. Previously, on February 15th, it was taken off Xbox Game Pass due to being withdrawn from EA’s own library. Consequently, players can now only access the single-player modes if they already own either a physical or digital copy of the game. However, owners can still download their digital copies from Sony and Microsoft’s online stores.
EA Sports UFC 3 Was EA’s Longest-Lasting UFC Game
Initially launched for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on February 2, 2018, EA Sports UFC 3 continued to offer multiplayer service until July 17, 2025 – making it Electronic Arts’ longest-running UFC game. It surpassed UFC 2 by approximately a month and a half in this regard. As an additional detail, the original EA Sports UFC game had its servers discontinued early in December 2019, five and a half years after it first hit shelves.

As a dedicated fan, I’m thrilled to share that as of February 2025, EA Vancouver’s MMA series is still alive and kicking online! Looking at EA’s history, it seems like the multiplayer servers for UFC 4 could keep going until at least 2028. On the other hand, UFC 5 might even make it to the 2030s! Excitingly, UFC 6 has reportedly been in full swing since late 2024, hinting that we might see it on shelves between 2027 and 2028. Here’s to many more years of virtual combat!
The closure of support for UFC 3 is happening soon, following Electronic Arts (EA) decision to cease operation of several mobile games such as Blood and Glory: Immortals, Contract Killer: Sniper, Deer Hunter Classic, Dino Hunter: Deadly Shores, Eternity Warriors 4, Frontline Commando 2, and Frontline Commando: D-Day earlier this January. Additionally, it has been announced that F1 22 and Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising will be removed from EA’s The Play List subscription library on February 28 and March 14 respectively.
