On June 13, 2025, the cross-over pack based on Final Fantasy will hit the market. Wizards of the Coast shared preliminary ideas about four Commander Decks from this set with IGN, hinting that some fan favorites from the series will make an appearance.

Final Fantasy 6, 7, 10, & 14 Are Getting Commander Decks

Here are the four Commander Decks:

1. Revival Trance (Red, White, Black) – Inspired by Final Fantasy 6
2. Limit Break (Red, Green, White) – Based on Final Fantasy 7
3. Counter Blitz (Green, White, Blue) – Influenced by Final Fantasy 10
4. Scions of Spellcraft (White, Blue, Black) – Drawn from Final Fantasy 14

The characters are: Terra, the Messenger of Hope hailing from Final Fantasy 6; Cloud, a Former Soldier from Final Fantasy 7; Tidus, Protector to Yuna in Final Fantasy 10; and Y’shtola, Blessed of the Night from Final Fantasy 14.

Or more simply: Terra (Final Fantasy 6), Cloud (Final Fantasy 7), Tidus (Final Fantasy 10), and Y’shtola (Final Fantasy 14) are our characters.

Given their status as fan favorites and critically acclaimed games, it’s no surprise that Final Fantasy 7 and 14 have been chosen for Commander Decks; even Final Fantasy 10, a much-loved title, might be considered for the same treatment.

Among all the Final Fantasy games, Final Fantasy 6 stands out as the most unexpectedly beloved one. Unlike its well-known counterparts that dominated mainstream popularity, it never reached behemoth status within the franchise. Nevertheless, it’s warm welcome is more than deserved, and it certainly deserves a place in any collection.

It’s intriguing to ponder over the selection process for characters in each Commander Deck, as we observe which ones have been included and which ones were not. While it’s expected that Avalanche members and Scions of the Seventh Dawn will feature, the question remains: Which other Final Fantasy heroes and antagonists will grace their debut in Magic: The Gathering?
