It’s been five years since Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 hit the shelves, and rumors are circulating that Activision is planning a comeback for this legendary series by remastering additional classic games from its past.
Last year, Tony Hawk hinted at the continuation of the franchise. Speaking on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, he told fans, “I’m not allowed to give any hints about the series’ future…but there will be more.
Currently, we’ve gained a bit more solid evidence about what the future may hold. Professional skater Tyshawn Jones recently graced the Breakfast Club podcast, during which his status as a black professional skateboarder was discussed. While Jones reminisced about his childhood love for playing ‘Skate’, he also shared an intriguing tidbit regarding a forthcoming Tony Hawk video game.
I’m currently part of the latest release of Tony Hawk, which has been remastered and is about to be launched… I was included in the previous version as well.
Remastering Tony Hawk 3 and 4 Is A No-Brainer
It might seem like Jones was referring to the forthcoming Skate game by EA, but it’s crucial to remember that he stated he was part of the last Tony Hawk game as well as a future remaster.
If EA isn’t currently working on a remaster of their Skate series, then Jones is definitely referring to a brand new Tony Hawk game, and I couldn’t agree more – it’s high time for such a release!
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 is an outstanding example of a flawless remake, honoring the cherished original games in a way that appeals to both old and new fans. It seems logical that updating the series by remastering games three and four was a no-brainer.
Unfortunately, instead of working on a project for Activision, Vicarious Visions was restructured to join forces with Blizzard Entertainment and concentrate on a different remastered game, specifically Diablo II: Resurrected.
Now that Activision and Blizzard are part of the Microsoft group, it’s uncertain who might work on a possible remake of Tony Hawk, if one is planned. Fingers crossed that they take up the task.
