In the world of Virtual Reality, job cuts persist. Toast Interactive, an Australian company, has officially declared the shutdown of their office and let go a significant portion of their workforce.
On social media, Toni and Richard Eastes, the founders, expressed their decision as “very difficult” or “extremely tough”.
To all members of the VR community, it is with great regret that we announce the closure of Toast Interactive’s office. This tough decision was not made lightly, but unfortunately, most of our exceptional team members have been let go. We will do our best to support them during their next steps in their careers.
They added that they are “incredibly grateful and proud of everything the team has accomplished.”
The company plans to enhance both “Richie’s Plank Experience” and “Max Mustard,” adopting a more streamlined methodology.
The cause behind the layoffs and studio shutdown wasn’t disclosed. Additionally, no information was provided regarding the number of employees affected by these layoffs.
Established back in 2016, Toast Interactive introduced two virtual reality games into the market: Richie’s Plank Experience, released in the same year, and Max Mustard, which followed suit in the year 2024.
