Summary
- Delta Force: Black Hawk Down has one challenging, standard difficulty setting.
- Playing with a full squad of teammates can make the game feel easier.
- Developers aim for players to try, fail, and learn from each mission.
On this coming Friday, February 21st, Team Jade plans to launch Delta Force: Black Hawk Down – a cooperative campaign mode inspired by Ridley Scott’s 2001 movie of the same name, which portrays the Battle of Mogadishu in Somalia from 1993. This historical battle was marked by extreme brutality and harrowing moments of endurance and survival, and this video game adaptation seeks to replicate that intensity as accurately as possible.
Recently, I had an amazing opportunity to get a firsthand experience with the campaign and pose some queries to the team about the game prior to its launch. It didn’t take long for me to realize that Black Hawk Down stands out from other contemporary shooters due to its exceptional level of difficulty. This challenging nature is intentional, making the gaming experience all the more engaging.
Black Hawk Down Only Has One, Standard Difficulty Setting

Having delved into the initial three stages of this game, it’s clear that surviving an entire level alongside my teammates is no small feat!
As the team explains, they’ve made a deliberate choice for Black Hawk Down. Instead of providing multiple difficulty settings, they’ve opted for a single, pre-set level of challenge. This design decision is intended to make the gameplay more accessible for players.
This decision may spark disagreement among some gamers, but the game is opting to put trust in itself by offering a consistent player experience. Each level aims to provide an appropriate level of difficulty as you learn them, with rewards that will leave you feeling triumphant when you finally overcome the challenge.
The One Way To Make It “Easier”

To enhance the gaming experience, I was advised that the best way to make the game less challenging is by playing it with a full team of four players. The game proves to be the most difficult when played alone, but becomes more manageable with three friends. Therefore, players who find the game too tough while playing with fewer team members are encouraged to team up for a smoother gaming experience.
Well, it looks like we’re expected to give this game our best shot, but it seems that sometimes we might stumble and need to pick ourselves back up again. It’s okay though, because we’ll learn from each try at a mission, just like many other gamers out there. So don’t worry if you don’t conquer the game on your first go!
This Friday, I’ll get the chance to find out if I’ve got the skills necessary to survive in Delta Force: Black Hawk Down, when it officially releases for PC gaming!
