Yet, this game mode has been criticized by many fans because it requires spending Virtual Currency, which can be obtained through in-app purchases (microtransactions), to buy clothes, shoes, and other items that cannot be carried over to future games within the series.
In the upcoming WWE 2K25, a new mode called “The Island” (available exclusively on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S) shares some resemblances with an earlier mode known as “The City,” which has sparked apprehension among veteran 2K gamers. In “The Island,” players will direct their personal wrestlers through a sequence of arenas, aiming to gain Roman Reigns’ approval. However, the primary objective is also to acquire customization and upgrade cosmetics for use in other game modes.
Some seasoned 2K gamers, like Reddit user Regents-k-i-d26, have expressed concern that “The Island” could potentially ruin the WWE video game series before the launch of WWE 2K25 on March 14. WWE 2K25 Fans Are Concerned About The Island
In WWE 2K25, the game boasts its largest roster yet, but it also includes a Create-a-Superstar mode with multiple slots for designing personalized wrestlers. However, some fans are worried that restricting cosmetic items for these designs to premium content could undermine the series’ renowned customization options.
For several years, the MyFACTION mode in the WWE 2K series has faced criticism from fans. This game feature enables players to assemble teams of four male or female wrestlers that they can obtain randomly by opening card packs or earn through participating in MyFACTION events such as Weekly Towers and Faction Wars. Numerous unlockable wrestler versions and items are hidden within this mode’s random card draws, which can be expensive when purchased with in-game currency earned, leaving most players with no choice but to make microtransactions to avoid seeing rows of question marks and silhouettes on their roster screens.
