- A PlayStation version of Longvinter is confirmed for 2026.
- Players liken the game to ‘Animal Crossing with guns.’
After three years in development, the survival game from Uuvana Studios, known as Longvinter, has officially left its Early Access period on Steam, reaching version 1.0. This significant milestone brings exciting news for fans who have been eagerly awaiting the full release of this game, often compared to ‘Animal Crossing’ but with a gun-based twist.
Initially launched on Steam Early Access in February 2022, “Longvinter” initially attracted a modest following of fewer than 1,000 simultaneous players. Since then, the player count has remained stable around the 1,000-player mark for three years. For a game of its scale, this is noteworthy as developer Uuvana Studios has skillfully leveraged Early Access to keep players engaged with fresh content. Following its full release, “Longvinter” has surpassed its highest concurrent player record, effortlessly exceeding the 3,000-player threshold and continuing to grow in popularity.
At Uuvana Studios, they officially launched the full version of Longvinter on Steam, revealing all the exciting upgrades that have been introduced with the significant 1.0 update. Among the modifications are the introduction of Oil Rigs, which the developers claim are thrilling for both Player versus Player (PVP) and Player versus Environment (PVE) gamers. Additionally, there’s a complete new line of winter attire, along with numerous new animal species and mount options like Lynxes, Wolves, Wolverines, Foxes, Moose, and Goats. Remarkably, this only scratches the surface of all the fresh content added to this survival game.
Longvinter Releases Out of Early Access After Three Years
The game offers various enhancements for wildlife, an abundance of fresh gear and items, a novel placable health system, weapon adjustments for balance, more items to place, and numerous overall improvements. Currently, it boasts “Overwhelmingly Positive” feedback on Steam, often being referred to as “Animal Crossing with guns.” Its charming visuals make it difficult not to liken it to Nintendo’s enduring simulation franchise, Longvinter. Some have even likened it to Rust, placing it among the top survival games.
With Longvinter hitting version 1.0, Uuvana Studios may keep pushing forward, enhancing the game even more. The game shows a lot of promise, and along with its announcement, it was revealed that it will be available on PlayStation in 2026. This gives the studio ample time to refine the game over the next year, making a big impact when it launches on PlayStation. For those interested in Longvinter, it’s currently discounted by 40% on Steam until February 28, reducing the price to $11.99 for a limited period.
