As a fervent admirer, I can’t hide my excitement when I stumbled upon rumors swirling about early leaks of Assassin’s Creed: Shadow, a game that’s not due for another month. It seems like fortunate gamers have already obtained both the physical and digital versions of this anticipated title, with some compelling anecdotes and seemingly authentic proof to support these claims.
Originally scheduled for a mid-November 2024 release, Ubisoft’s 14th mainline installment of the action-RPG series known as “Assassin’s Creed Shadows”, was postponed to maintain historical and cultural accuracy. The new launch date was set for February 14, 2025. However, just over a month before this revised release date, there was another delay announced, with the game now set for a March 20, 2025 release.
With its official launch date still nearly four weeks away, photo and video evidence suggests that some people have received the game early, either through PlayStation Network errors or by receiving a physical copy through unknown means. Both versions of the game seem to be functional, as early players have reportedly shared their thoughts on gameplay and have posted gameplay videos including Assassin’s Creed Shadows‘ stealth-based protagonist Naoe fighting a group of armed men and the game’s opening loading animations and menu screen. There is also an image album that shares additional details reportedly captured from the menu screens, including a description of Naoe’s weapon Death Whisperer, and sliders for visual options like brightness and contrast.
Some Players May Have Gotten Assassin’s Creed Shadows Nearly a Month Early
Some supporters of the show question if the initial releases are genuine, arguing that the pictures and videos might be fabricated as a prank. With the uncertain evidence surrounding the rumors about Animus Anomalies resurfacing, these fans suspect that someone may have manipulated resources to reproduce Naoe’s visuals from earlier Ubisoft footage. On Steam, a humorous takeoff of “Assassin’s Creed Shadows” called “Yasuke Simulator” has been posted with the same release date and less polished artwork.
While some people are open to the idea that the games might have been obtained prematurely, others think it could be due to accidental sales or unauthorized taking by store workers, much like rumors about McDonald’s Pokemon toys being sold online by restaurant staff in recent times. As for the suspected PSN leaks, the 24-hour outage from earlier this month demonstrates that the system isn’t perfect, but there’s no official word yet on whether Assassin’s Creed Shadows has been released early through either channel.
