In Todoroki Shoto’s early life, he experienced cruel treatment and solitude, shaping him into an individual who struggles socially. This pattern persists even eight years after his graduation from U.A High School. However, over time, Shoto has noticeably evolved from his teenage self, no longer consumed by the desire to defy his father.
In the world of “My Hero Academia”, Shoto had demonstrated an impressive amount of effort and resolve, eventually earning himself the position as the Number 2 Pro Hero. This role was once held by his father for a significant amount of time. However, let’s delve into how much progress Shoto has made in the eight years following his graduation, and explore where he stands currently within this dynamic universe.
How Far Has Shoto Come In Achieving His Dream?
Forced To Achieve His Father’s Dreams, Shoto Breaks Free From the Mold
Born into a wealthy family, Todoroki Shoto is the son of Endeavor, the second-ranked Pro Hero. Despite their financial status, his household wasn’t ideal because his parents were united through an arranged Quirk Marriage, aiming to produce a child with dual Quirks as a designer baby for their ambitions. Shoto’s father’s longstanding dream of outshining All Might influenced him and his siblings to share the same goals and aspirations.
Initially, Shoto aspired to be a hero, inspired by All Might’s actions. Instead of following the traditional path, he opted for a unique approach, initially ignoring his Flame Quirk in favor of his mother’s Ice Quirk. However, due to Midoriya Izuku’s intervention, Shoto eventually came to appreciate his own Flame Quirk rather than disliking it.
Regrettably, due to a troubled upbringing, Shoto developed an unconventional demeanor, as he was kept away from social interactions during his childhood. However, it’s important to note that despite coming across as reserved and distant, Shoto harbors good intentions and genuinely cares for his peers, in spite of his unusual personality. Despite being secluded by his father when he was growing up, Shoto has been driven to demonstrate his abilities uniquely, even if it meant communicating with his father.
Observing Shoto, I see a complex mix of emotions as he anticipates the transformation of his father, a man whose past actions he’s yet to forgive, into the realized dreamer striving for the title of Number One Hero and the new Symbol of Peace. Yet, this optimistic outlook could shatter with the resurgence of Todoroki Touya, now known as Dabi, who has been living in obscurity.
It’s not some sense of duty that brought me here today! That goes for all of us.
Intuitively, Shoto recognized the perils and the necessity of confronting and overcoming Dabi, for Dabi had ruthlessly slain many Heroes and innocent civilians in his pursuit of vengeance. In truth, it was Shoto who served as a bond that prevented the family from succumbing to darkness by denying Dabi’s demise. As he approached graduation, Shoto declared with renewed resolve that he would forge his own destiny and shape himself into the person he desired to be.
What Happens To Shoto After Graduation?
As the New Number 2 Hero, No One Refers to Him as “Endeavor’s Son”

Chapters | 425 – 431 |
As I approached graduation day, I threw myself wholeheartedly into Class A, letting go of any inhibitions and truly flourishing alongside my fellow students. Fast forward eight years, and I’ve undergone quite the transformation. No longer is my father’s past casting a shadow over me. Today, I stand as a Pro Hero, one whose trustworthiness is beyond question.
In Chapter 430, Izuku Midoriya praises Shoto for his hard work and exceptional talents. Shoto manages to tackle situations effectively every day, no matter what time it is. Thanks to his steadfast dedication and determination to chart his own course, he has made remarkable achievements. Despite some lingering awkwardness, he always warmly interacts with his fans.
1. He’s constantly resolving situations, round the clock. Yet, somewhat uncomfortable in public, he always takes good care of his followers. Nowaday, hardly anyone calls him “Son of Endeavor.” (Informal and conversational)
2. He works tirelessly to resolve issues, day or night. Though a bit awkward, he shows great kindness towards his fans. These days, few people still address him as the “Son of Endeavor.” (Friendly and casual)
3. He never stops tackling problems, even at night. Though he may be a tad awkward around people, he treats his fans wonderfully. Nowadays, it’s rare to hear him called “Endeavor’s Son.” (Approachable and engaging)
4. Constantly resolving incidents, day and night, is what he does. Somewhat awkward but always treating his fans with care. These days, you won’t often hear people calling him “the Son of Endeavor.” (Clear and easy-to-understand)
A few months down the line, Class A arranged a festive dinner at a restaurant to commemorate the elevation of Shoto, now Number 2 Pro Hero on the Japanese Hero Billboard Chart. True to his nature, Shoto politely greeted the ex-students from U.A. High School and apologized for summoning them. In return, Kaminari Denki jokingly commented that they were merely finding a reason to get together. Unfortunately, Shoto didn’t quite catch the humor and responded uneasily.
Reflecting on my past with Bakugo Katsuki and Midoriya Izuku, I marvel at the transformation I’ve undergone as an individual and a hero. Yes, I’ve faced challenges along the way, but each decision I made was right for me, steering me towards the path that felt true to my essence.
Pondering over the notions of fate and destiny, I wonder if they’re pieces in a larger story. Yet, I firmly believe that my current position is a testament to the choices I’ve made – choices that reflect my will and determination.
In a surprising turn of events, Shoto casually mentions that he’s enrolled in a bowl and chopstick class in Ishikawa, leaving both Bakugo and Midoriya taken aback. He further explains his intention to elevate the taste of soba by using homemade chopsticks, which piques Bakugo’s curiosity about the unique style of chopsticks Shoto intends to create.
In this personal aspect of his life, it came to light that he was working through past traumas and aiming for something greater than just being a Pro Hero. Despite his passion for his profession, while paying respects at Touya’s shrine, Shoto recognizes his fondness for food and now wishes to transcend his role as merely a hero, having more free time in his heart. This suggests that Shoto is evolving in his life, no longer striving for someone else’s ambition or engrossing himself in hero work to the exclusion of other aspects.
- Shoto is no longer the teenager driven by hatred to prove his father wrong.
- After witnessing the change in his father and Dabi’s defeat, Shoto declares he’ll live just as he pleases.
- Eight years after graduation, Shoto is much happier, no longer clinging to just being a hero.
As night falls, the ex-Class A members spring into action upon an occurrence, putting on their gear to apprehend the culprit. Once they’ve handled the situation, Shoto flatly declares that he’s settled the bill, a proposition his fellow classmates, Momo Yaoyorozu and Kyoka Jiro, reject since it’s a celebration for Shoto being ranked Number 2 Pro Hero. The scene then shifts to Shoto gathering money from his former classmates, while joyfully holding onto his present.
