It seems Microsoft‘s strategy for implementing its innovative Muse AI tech in video games is about to accelerate. In a recent conversation, Microsoft’s CEO, Satya Nadella, mentioned that they are preparing to educate their new AI model using a collection of games.
On the Dwarkesh Patel Podcast, as acknowledged by Eurogamer, Nadella outlines a strategy: they intend to educate their AI system by having it play various games, thereby enabling it to engage in gameplay independently.
Initially, when Phil Spencer demonstrated it to me, he held an Xbox controller. Essentially, this device processed the input and produced the outcome correspondingly. And it aligned perfectly with the game, as Nadella explained.
This feels incredibly awe-inspiring – it’s almost like witnessing ChatGPT generate full sentences for the first time, or observing Dall-E produce artwork, or experiencing Sora. It’s one of those extraordinary moments.
Nadella didn’t elaborate on the exact ways that this skillset would benefit game development or gamers specifically.
As per Microsoft‘s introduction of Muse, this tool isn’t just capable of aiding in game development and enhancing accessibility, but also potentially preserving games for future generations.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’ve noticed that the buzz around AI in gaming just won’t quiet down. Lately, Steam users have been asking for an option to skip games that rely on generative AI. Even bigwigs like Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two, have jumped into the fray, expressing his view that the concept of ‘artificial intelligence’ might just be a misnomer.
