The Wheel of Time Season 3: Everything Changes Forever!

By the finale of Season 2 in “The Wheel of Time” TV series, everything took a drastic turn. The usual order was shattered, and it was evident that nothing would remain as it was – the future would be irrevocably altered. Main character Rand al’Thor was declared the Dragon Reborn publicly, the malevolent Forsaken were freed from their prison, and betrayal surfaced among the Aes Sedai. As “The Wheel of Time” moves into its third season, the characters must face the challenges and hardships brought on by this transformed world.

Game Rant recently held conversations with cast members from “The Wheel of Time,” including Josha Stradowski (Rand al’Thor), Rosamund Pike (Moiraine Damodred), Dónal Finn (Mat Cauthon), Marcus Rutherford (Perrin Aybara), and showrunner Rafe Judkins. Some actors expressed their readiness to tackle the fresh threats looming in the upcoming third season, while others shared a sentimental yearning for the carefree days in Two Rivers that they left behind in the series’ first episode.

Rand Is Ready To Face His New Responsibilities

When queried on how Rand was handling the disclosure of his identity as The Dragon Reborn, Stradowski responded promptly: “He’s prepared and yearns for everything to be unveiled truthfully.” In Season 3, Rand will encounter fresh perils and obligations, among which are the revelation of crucial facts regarding his future and fate that he has long been searching for. Stradowski did disclose that Rand sometimes misses Two Rivers, but is determined to confront his destiny.

As a devoted cinephile, I can’t help but express my excitement about the character of Moiraine in “The Wheel of Time.” In Season 1, she recognized Rand’s potential as the Dragon Reborn and set him on his extraordinary journey. This season, Moiraine stands firmly by Rand’s side, offering him unwavering support in this transformed world.

Rosamund Pike, who brings Moiraine to life, shares that her character’s bonds are deeply intertwined with Rand this time around. Interestingly, Moiraine regained her Aes Sedai magic after losing it in Season 2.

Maria Doyle Kennedy, who plays Moiraine’s fellow Aes Sedai Siuan Sanche, confirmed that Rand leans heavily on Moiraine throughout the season, particularly as he ventures away from his childhood companions Mat, Perrin, and Egwene.

As Rand believes he’s prepared to tackle his destiny as the Dragon Reborn, his journey won’t be smooth sailing. The upcoming season will delve into the Forsaken, a band of nefarious characters who have just been released from their imprisonment. Judkins expressed great enjoyment in penning stories for the Forsaken during Season 3.

Each character is delightful due to their playful interactions with their environment. They seem thrilled to have escaped their confinement and are now enjoying themselves freely. Consequently, it’s invigorating for us authors to craft these individuals.

While Rand Looks Forward, Mat and Perrin Look Back

Instead of yearning for the present, Rutherford and Finn express that their characters reminisce about and pine for their past days in Two Rivers. As Rutherford put it, “Perrin seems to miss being the man we first met way back in the very first episode.” Perrin finds himself grappling with grief, conflict, and devastation that surround him, especially the death of his wolf companion Hopper in Season 2, and yearns for a more straightforward time when everything was different.

Instead of relying solely on himself, Mat draws strength from his connections with his friends and their shared past at the Two Rivers as he braces for a fresh and unpredictable future. According to Finn, “Mat recognizes that everyone has their individual journeys,” and he believes that Mat truly comprehends this. [Rand and Perrin] strive to safeguard a life that they are familiar with, Finn added. As they prepare for Season 3, the characters in The Wheel of Time are about to embark on an epic adventure amidst a world that has been transformed from the one they once knew, whether they meet it with humor, courage, nostalgia, anxiety, or a combination of all these emotions.
