Quantic Dream, the developers behind Star Wars Eclipse, have stated that their team remains unchanged following the recent organizational changes made by NetEase.
As a gamer speaking up, I want to weigh in on the recent layoffs and studio closures at some divisions within NetEase that Guillaume de Fondaumière, CEO of Quantic Dream, mentioned. It’s truly heartbreaking for everyone who is affected, and my thoughts go out to them as I hope they find better opportunities soon.
Now, let me share some good news from our camp. David Cage and I would like to thank all the fans and friends who have reached out to us in recent days regarding Quantic Dream. Rest assured that our studios in Paris and Montreal are still up and running. We’re full steam ahead on our projects with several open positions available in both locations (you can find more details here: https://lnkd.in/e_AJFbUa).
Quantic Dream was founded 28 years ago, and we’ve remained committed to the strategy that David and I outlined in 2019 when NetEase initially acquired a minority stake in our company. Over the past six years, NetEase has been an outstanding partner, granting us creative freedom and the financial resources required for our studio to thrive. In 2022, Quantic Dream became a wholly owned subsidiary of NetEase, aligning with our vision for the future.
In 2024, we experienced the highest revenue in our history, thanks to the exceptional performance of our back-catalog titles. Detroit: Become Human sold over 11 million units worldwide across PlayStation and PC last year, marking a significant 2 million increase from the previous year. The progress on our current projects remains as planned, and we’re fully dedicated to delivering and launching these innovative, high-quality titles in the future.
At the moment, Quantic Dream is working on multiple upcoming games, with Star Wars Eclipse being their most significant project. Earlier this year, TopMob announced that Star Wars Eclipse was initially planned for release in 2026; however, they are facing challenges in hiring staff due to workplace concerns, such as allegations of sexual harassment, excessive work hours, and a toxic work environment.
The game titled “Star Wars Eclipse” is an upcoming action-adventure with multiple character paths, taking place within the renowned Star Wars galaxy during the High Republic era. As revealed by the Vice President of development at Quantic Dream in September 2023, the game has been quietly developing and maturing in production.
