Summary
- Suho becomes incredibly strong in “The Tutorial” after defeating Jinwoo‘s most powerful shadows.
- Suho is nowhere close to Jinwoo in power, despite rapid advancement.
- Solo Leveling Ragnarok’s protagonist still has a long way to go to reach or surpass his father’s strength.
In the “Solo Leveling” Manhwa, the main character, Sung Jinwoo, is portrayed as the most powerful entity ever known. As the story progresses, Jinwoo gains the ability to manipulate reality, live forever, and traverse dimensions. Given this, it’s understandable that fans anticipate Sung Suho, Jinwoo’s son, to attain similar power levels in the “Solo Leveling Ragnarok” series.
It’s not unreasonable to ponder if Suho might one day exceed his father in power. If he doesn’t, it would seem questionable to build an entire spin-off series around Suho’s journey and development, given that his father is the Shadow Monarch. However, Suho, being the Shadow Monarch’s son, already possesses great strength. Yet, there’s still a considerable path for him to walk before he can truly match his father’s might.
WARNING: This post contains SPOILERS for Solo Leveling Ragnarok manhwa.
Sung Suho Became Incredibly Strong In “The Tutorial”
Only Sung Jinwoo Was Able To Defeat Suho
In the story of “Solo Leveling Ragnarok”, our protagonist, Sung Suho, unexpectedly unleashes abilities akin to an entry-level Hunter. During a perilous encounter and a heroic rescue mission, he showcases these newfound powers but fails to vanquish a more formidable adversary. Despite this, Suho manages to stall the enemy, buying time until the Ant King, Beru, intervenes and rescues him. Unlike Sung Jinwoo’s path to growth, Sung Suho’s journey will take an unusual turn. Although there are similarities, his path holds a significant twist.
It seems that just before Jinwoo and Cha Hae-In vanished from Earth, Jinwoo had been preparing his son using a device he referred to as “The Tutorial.” Essentially, this tutorial was a magical chamber that the boy could enter via a portal. In this tutorial, Sung Suho faced off against Igris, Bellion, and Beru in various challenges. Eventually, Suho managed to overcome even Jinwoo’s most formidable shadows, which were as powerful as top-tier S-Rank Hunters.
While some people need to work as hard as an ‘Ant’ to gain wealth, some people have it handed to them for nothing. This distinction makes those same ‘Ants’ sorely realize their limits. – Sung Suho
After Suho overcame those Shadows, it’s safe to say he surpassed the strength of most elite S-Rank Hunters. Some might argue that the Shadows, including Beru, may not have given their full power against Suho. However, it’s extremely improbable because they were strictly following orders from Jinwoo. Therefore, each Shadow likely fought Suho with every ounce of strength they possessed. Consequently, Suho may now be the second-strongest entity to ever emerge in The Tutorial (with Sung Jinwoo being the first, naturally).
Indeed, it’s terrific that Suho underwent intense training within the Tutorial, yet one might ponder why he didn’t possess these abilities when he was awakened in Solo Leveling Ragnarok. However, this is due to the fact that Jinwoo suppressed these powers and Suho’s memory of them to provide him with a semblance of a regular life. The Tutorial served as a means for Jinwoo to gauge if his boy was robust enough to face powerful threats independently. Although Suho became exceptionally strong in the Tutorial, he couldn’t tap into those powers outside of the Gate. On occasion, Suho would have visions of the events within The Tutorial in dreams, but he dismissed these and never explored whether they were real or not.
Sung Soho’s Current Rank In Solo Leveling Ragnarok
Initially, Suho had to retrace his steps and work even more diligently to regain the level he achieved during the Tutorial. Now, he can advance using the updated System that caters to his requirements. At first, he was a novice or E-rank, but after battling some formidable dungeon leaders, he climbed up the ranks and is now considered an A-rank Hunter in the webtoon. In the novel adaptation, though, he has ascended to the prestigious S-Rank Hunter status.
Sung Suho Is Nowhere Close To Jinwoo In Terms Of Power
Suho Still Has A Long Way To Go To Touch His Father’s Level
Since the debut of Solo Leveling Ragnarok, fans have been pondering whether Sung Suho surpasses his father in strength. In essence, the response is negative. Although Suho demonstrates impressive Hunter abilities within Ragnarok, he falls significantly short when compared to Jinwoo in terms of might and power. While Suho remains engaged on a human level, Jinwoo has ascended beyond time and space as a cosmic entity, achieving true immortality and possessing the ability to manipulate reality itself.
At present, only Jinwoo possesses the strength required to prevent the Outer Gods, Itarim, from taking over Earth. However, while Suho may one day match or exceed his father’s abilities, it wouldn’t be fair to make such a comparison at this stage in the story.
Speaking from a place of excitement, I’ve got to say that it’s clear Suho is the Son of Shadow Monarch, and that gives him an edge when it comes to adapting to The System. You saw this firsthand in the Tutorial when he managed to stand his ground against Jinwoo, even if just for a bit. Unlike Jinwoo who was a Player, Suho approaches combat differently, valuing raw Strength over other abilities and characteristics. He’s always investing most of his earned points into Strength, which makes him an absolute powerhouse as a Hunte.r!
Additionally, it’s noteworthy that even without the Shadow Army at his disposal, he has been finishing The System’s challenges quicker than Jinwoo. Given this trend, it seems likely that he will effortlessly ascend to the second-strongest human position behind Jinwoo. However, to surpass his father’s achievements, he needs to attain the title of Monarch.
