- Reacher’s collaboration with Kohl leads to capturing Quinn, but tragedy strikes.
In the initial three episodes of Season 3, the character Reacher sets himself apart from others within his genre, captivating fans with his unique portrayal. By the conclusion of Episode 2, Reacher goes to great lengths to fit seamlessly into Zachary Beck’s team. Yet, in Episode 3, he takes out the second-in-command on Beck’s team and assumes the position of head of security.
From my perspective, it’s often assumed that Reacher could easily unravel any mystery. However, maintaining his covert persona has never been more challenging. On the other hand, Reacher has come to understand that Julius McCabe is pulling all the strings, with Beck merely a pawn in this game. Fortunately, Susan Duffy recognizes McCabe and even snapped a photo of him, though Reacher remains unaware of his identity. The demise of Duke adds complexity to Beck’s situation as each day brings the loss of more allies from his circle. With so many deaths occurring around him, Beck may soon face some critical choices. Meanwhile, I must tread carefully and maintain my course in this investigation. However, Episode 4 of Reacher Season 3 offers a glimpse into the past, offering viewers an insight into why Reacher sought to eliminate Frances Xavier Quinn.
Finally, Reacher Reveals Why He Wants To Finish Quinn

In Episode 4, titled Dominique, Reacher arrives at Duffy’s location, sharing that he had killed Duke and was now taking over as Beck’s security chief. Just a short while later, Duffy reveals photographs she took, promptly recognizing McCable as someone familiar. Without a moment’s hesitation, it becomes clear that Quinn is, in fact, McCabe and orchestrates a criminal organization. When Reacher discloses his past attempts on Quinn’s life, Duffy insists on some clarification. She feels entitled to understand why he wants to eliminate Quinn and what they are both facing up against.
In a turn of events, Reacher finds himself in the past, serving with the US Army. Soon, he receives an assignment, and one of his comrades gives him a file about an upcoming teammate who will aid him on this mission. A few moments later, First Class Sergeant Dominique Kohl (portrayed by Mariah Robinson) enters Reacher’s office, impressing him with her sharp intellect. As he contemplates the case at hand, it becomes clear to him that having another pair of discerning eyes could prove beneficial. Notably, the mystery Reacher is tackling revolves around espionage, as a weapons expert is suspected of leaking top-secret designs to hostile nations.
Through his words, Kohl comprehends that Reacher hadn’t anticipated her arrival and had only been informed about her moments ago. To gauge her intelligence, Reacher hands her a file and inquires about her thoughts on the case as he pours coffee. Swiftly capturing Reacher’s focus, she delves into the case with him without delay.
As a film buff, I uncovered that our arms expert was conducting clandestine exchanges in a public park. Consequently, Reacher and I began trailing the area stealthily. True to form, he did execute a drop, but no subsequent events transpired, leading me to suspect a trap. It dawned on me that the drop wasn’t concealed in an envelope, but rather hidden within a newspaper. Thankfully, we managed to nab the culprit and ushered him indoors. Kohl interrogated her and showcased why she was top-notch. She left no stone unturned, extracting every shred of information from our suspect, ultimately proving successful in her endeavor.
A weapons expert has disclosed that Xavier Quinn, a previous military member, orchestrated everything, which explains why he was unable to involve the authorities. Meanwhile, they apprehended another individual who was set to deliver money to Quinn in exchange for weapon blueprints. They devised a plan for an exchange and managed to capture Quinn on camera. In the end, Reacher and Kohl gathered enough evidence against Quinn to make an arrest. Recognizing Kohl’s efforts, Reacher encourages her to proceed with the arrest.
Watching the collaboration between Reacher and Kohl is an absolute delight, and the rapport between Ritchson and Robinson is truly captivating. Such moments are what make Child think that the creators have done an outstanding job in elevating the series to great heights.
What Happened To Kohl? Did Quinn Kill Her?

When Reacher hadn’t heard from Kohl an hour later, a hint of worry crept in as he thought Kohl wouldn’t get into any trouble and should have returned by then. He sent a message to Kohl and shortly after, received a response saying “I got him.” However, Reacher felt uneasy because she addressed him as “sir” in the message, which was against their initial agreement, leading him to suspect that something wasn’t right since he didn’t need to remind Kohl of their conversation twice.
As a film enthusiast, I found myself following my superior officers to the residence where Kohl had been last seen. Upon arrival, one of our team members lay lifeless, but there was no sign of Kohl himself. This sparked further investigation into Quinn’s past, revealing his penchant for violent assaults. The urgency to find Kohl escalated as we uncovered more about him.
With the address of a possible hiding place in hand, I made my way to the location only to find it empty. Frustrated but not defeated, I moved towards the large barn located at the back of the house. Upon entering, I was met with a sight that sent a chill down my spine – Kohl’s lifeless body hung from the rafters.
Fury coursed through me as I pulled myself together and exited the barn. However, I heard strange noises coming from another part of the estate. With a determination to bring justice, I vowed to uncover what lay beyond those sounds.
Reacher reaches the location and encounters Quinn who says Kohl intended to strike a deal and accept money. Reacher dismisses this, instead shooting Quinn off a cliff. This event prompts Duffy to understand how crucial it is for her to locate Teresa Daniels and rescue her. The story concludes with Beck assigning another mission to Reacher: he’s to visit a commercial facility owned by Beck’s company to retrieve Angel Doll’s laptop. The reason? The laptop contained information about the shipment locations. Already, McCabe’s men have been sent to the facility, and Reacher is told to be there as well. On the other hand, Reacher heads to the facility and instructs Duffy to leave immediately since McCabe’s people are on their way. Unfortunately, it’s too late; McCabe’s crew had arrived before Duffy could depart safely.
In my opinion, this episode stands out as the best one yet, offering a captivating, tense narrative and impressive acting performances, particularly by Robinson who delivers a stellar portrayal of Kohl. Her interpretation of Kohl is subtle yet powerful, never going overboard but always remaining impactful. She skillfully knows when to restrain and when to attack, making her character even more fascinating. Given Quinn’s interactions with Kohl and the fact that Quinn seems to be alive, Reacher won’t want to pass up this opportunity for a rematch and finally put an end to Quinn once and for all.
Episode 4 of Reacher Season 3 is now streaming exclusively on Prime Video.
