Substory: The Sicko Snap Saga
Just as you’d anticipate from an RGG Studio production, the maritime journey of Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii features a sprinkling of absurd, humorous side quests and mini-games.
During his escapades in Hawaii, Majima will find himself entangled in a variety of peculiar antics, and photographing lewd individuals turns out to be quite an unforeseen subplot.
Returning to the game “Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth,” it’s quite possible that you’ll encounter one of Yakuza’s most absurd mini-games, known as Sicko Snap.
It’s obviously paying tribute to the classic game, “Pokémon Snap” by Nintendo, but instead of capturing cute Pokémon, you’re taking photos of individuals wearing masks and swimming attire, who are notoriously known for their inappropriate behavior in Honolulu.
Completing the minigame and its substory will also give you the handy Scope Ring.
This walkthrough covers the main points about our mini-game, highlights valuable prizes it offers, and alerts you to the tricky Sickos that might slip past your notice. Don’t forget to catch ’em all!
How To Unlock

Like many other mini-games, you can start playing Sicko Snap relatively early within the game as part of a side storyline.
To start the subplot titled “‘Snap Those Sickos! Again!’“, first head over to the Aloha Beach Trolley Stop, which is located on Aloha Street in East Waikiki, Honolulu.

Stepping onto this gaming ride, I find myself face-to-face with Kuroki, a character gamers may recall from the thrilling adventure of “Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth.
He will share that he is a controversial photographer, focusing on questionable subjects. He may also extend an invitation for you to join him in photographing individuals who are unwell or problematic, all in the name of upholding justice.
After that, you’ll be able to utilize Sicko Snap. Moreover, Kuroki will be stationed at the bus stop, ready to trade points with you.
Or:
Later on, Sicko Snap will be available for your use. Meanwhile, Kuroki will be waiting at the bus stop to swap points with you.
How To Play Sicko Snap

In the game Sicko Snap, the concept is straightforward: You’ll travel along a specified route on a trolley and snap pictures of a specific quantity of characters known as Sickos. These photos earn you points, which are then assessed at the end of the journey.
The more Sickos you snap and the better the quality of the picture, the more points you earn.

For optimal scoring, make sure to focus the frame on the subject known as Sicko, regardless of any potentially awkward situations you might encounter while framing.
You’ll be given an ample supply of film, and taking photos slows down time for a short duration.
Line | Completion Score | Film Count | Sicko Count |
---|---|---|---|
Waikiki Resort Line | 3,000 | 50 | 30 |
Harbor Line | 6,000 | 75 | 40 |
Night Square Line | 8,000 | 99 | 50 |
The minigame ends when the trolley hits the final stop or when you run out of film.
Types Of Papillon Boys
While traveling on the trolley, you’re searching for individuals referred to as “Sickos.” It seems that various kinds of these individuals can be found throughout Honolulu. (One might wonder about the number of such characters residing in this city.)
Kuroki will warn you that there are four types of Papillon Boys you’ll find on each trail:
- White Papillon – the run-of-the-mill pervert. These Sickos remain in one spot, giving you plenty of time to take their photos. 50 base score.
- Red Papillon – these require a little attention, as they tend to move across your vision quite quickly. They’re usually riding a vehicle, whether it’s a Street Surfer, a truck, or a UFO. 150 base score.
- Blue Papillon – these are the more elusive Sickos, as they appear from ledges, hedges, and wedges for a few seconds before receding into their hiding spot. 250 base score.
- Golden Papillon – the rarest Sickos. While they don’t move fast or hide, you earn the most points by timing your photos to when they strike the Ono Michio pose. Wait for them to get into position, and take the photo right as they strike their pose. 350 base score.
Scoring System

Following every game of Sicko Snap, your performance will be assessed based on the number of Sickos you’ve successfully photographed, the types of Sickos you’ve captured, and the quality of your compositions.
- The base score of each Papillon Boy you’ve snapped.
- 50 points for each “Good” photo.
- 150 points for each “Excellent” photo.
- 500 points for the Gold Bonus photo.
Notable Rewards
When you’ve taken enough photos of the Sickos and accumulated a substantial number of points, you can exchange these points for items by having a chat with Kuroki in his regular hangout spot.
Here are some notable items that might be worth your while:
- Silver Treasure Chest – 29,000 points. Contains the Ring of Flowers treasure that’s worth $11,600 and 8,420 pirate rank points. Not only that, but wearing it gives 220 Defense and boosts the power of Heat Actions when making use of terrain.
- Crewmate: Papillon Boy – 3,300 points. Bronze tier crewmate.
- Crewmate: Patriarch Gondawara – 11,000 points. Silver tier crewmate.
- Crewmate: Crystal Papillon – 22,000 points. Gold tier crewmate. Recommended to be assigned to man the cannons on the Goromaru.
- Scourge of the Night Top – 3,500 points. Customization.
- Scourge of the Night Bottoms – 3,500 points. Customization.
- Scourge of the Night Shoes – 2,000 points. Customization.
- Scourge of the Night Makeup – 2,000 points. Customization.
- Golden Ball – 33,333 points. Essential for the “When You Wish Upon Some Balls” questline.
Substory: The Sicko Snap Saga

After finishing the three trolley tracks, Kuroki will share tales of an enigmatic character known as “The Sicko,” whose elusiveness is almost mythical, marking the beginning of “‘The Sicko Snap Saga’ side story.
You have been fittingly named “The Legendary Sicko.” Your task now is to journey to Crystal Papillon Island and locate him.
Or, in a more conversational tone:
Hey there, “Legendary Sicko”! Your next assignment is to make your way to Crystal Papillon Island and track down the guy we’re looking for.
Contrary to the conversation’s implied route, you won’t be making a physical journey to Crystal Papillon Island through Goromaru. Instead, it turns out that Goromaru is actually a trail located within Sicko Snap.
Talk to Kuroki, and you’ll now have an option to travel to Crystal Papillon Island.
Line | Completion Score | Film Count | Sicko Count |
---|---|---|---|
Crystal Papillon Island | 10,000 | 99 | 55 |

While navigating this trail, you’ll find yourself drifting down a leisurely river on a raft, accompanied by Noah, Goro, and Kuroki as they join in your island adventure. Be vigilant, as you may encounter some playful swimmers who appear frequently, giving the impression of synchronized swimming skills. (The phrase “Many of the Sickos on these trails will be popping out of the water” has been rephrased to “You may encounter some playful swimmers who appear frequently.”)
After walking along a sufficient stretch of the trail and capturing an image of the last Papillon Boy, you will reach a picturesque beach. There, you will come across the mythical Crystal Papillon, whose lower region emits a dazzling radiance.

Since he has a health meter, it indicates that we’re dealing with a boss battle. To defeat him, you should snap photos whenever the Papillon Boy exposes his lower body. He will signal this by initially showing up with his lower body covered first.
After taking a sufficient number of pictures, you’ll find him tripping up, providing you with an excellent chance for capturing numerous photos, much like an overly enthusiastic paparazzi.

As a gamer, conquering Crystal Papillon Island would wrap up the side-story, with Crystal Papillon eventually getting caught by the law enforcement.
To show his gratitude for your assistance, Kuroki will grant you a distinct Scope Ring, considered by many to be among the finest rings available in the game.

Although the Scope Ring offers relatively low defenses at 80 and 30, it boasts a special ability that lets you spot secret treasure chests and paper fortunes concealed throughout Honolulu.
If your goal is to fully explore the treasure chests and collect paper fortunes for trading with Kamulop in Little Japan, then having this item is essential.
