4A Games Ukraine, a studio known for contributing to the Metro series, has unveiled a rebrand and introduced a brand-new video game titled ‘La Quimera’, which means ‘The Chimera’ in Spanish. Previous leaks hinted at this project and the studio’s establishment, but today marks the formal announcement with the release of the game’s first official trailer online.
La Quimera – A Future Sci-Fi Shooter in Latin America
Overview: This game is set in the futuristic landscape of Latin America, offering an engaging narrative mode that can be enjoyed alone or with companions. Known for its compelling storyline, this game has been penned by Nicolas Winding Refn (Drive, The Neon Demon). It uniquely blends traditional Latin American folklore with modern weaponry and technology.
Introducing Reburn
4A Games Ukraine has been rebranded as Reburn, which is now an autonomous studio boasting approximately 110 team members. Many of these creators have contributed to the Metro series, while some have roots tracing back to the original S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game. The studio’s operations are overseen by Dmytro Lymar, an industry professional with two decades of experience.
To clarify, there was indeed a division within 4A Games in 2014. This led to one segment remaining in Ukraine, while another was established in Malta. Despite being geographically separated, they continued to share technology and work together on projects such as Metro Exodus.
2020 saw Embracer Group acquiring the 4A team based in Malta, while the Ukraine studio of 4A Games secured new funding and gained more autonomy, leading them to begin work on La Quimera. Meanwhile, 4A Games (Malta) remains focused on Metro series, while Reburn, a completely independent entity, is dedicated to developing this brand-new intellectual property.
In a statement, Lymar said:
Reburn is thrilled to unveil La Quimera, a game born from our achievements in creating story-focused shooter games for the Metro series. We’re excited to invite you to explore this enigmatic universe and can’t wait for you to immerse yourself in the excitement of gearing up for battle.
La Quimera
In this game, you’ll find yourself immersed in a vibrant Latin American megacity and lush jungle setting. You’ll have the opportunity to don an advanced suit of armor, engaging in intense battles with rival factions while exploring a visually stunning world. The developers emphasized that La Quimera offers both nail-biting gunplay and moving storytelling.
Here’s the announcement trailer for La Quimera:
Option: It appears impressive, and it’s astonishing how it’s managed to stay hidden for such a long time. The crew at Reburn has been developing La Quimera for nearly five years now, and if the announcement trailer serves as an indicator, it promises to be a fantastic game.
I’m a huge fan of the enemies that seem to resemble the Helghast from the Killzone franchise.
The game can be wishlisted on Steam, but no release window has been confirmed for the game.
