- PS5 Pro version offers ray-tracing in-game and in the open world, improving visual fidelity.
- Pre-orders grant early access, exclusive items, and crossplay with Xbox friends.
Last month left me thrilled as a gamer when Microsoft unveiled that an exclusive Xbox title, the exhilarating Forza Horizon 5, is also bound for the PS5!
As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but feel thrilled by the news that the PS5 version of the game isn’t just a straightforward port. In fact, Playground Games has unveiled some exclusive features for the PS5 edition that aren’t even offered on Xbox platforms! This is truly exciting news and adds another layer to my anticipation for the game’s release on Sony’s latest console.
Forza Horizon 5 On PS5 Pro Will Have An Extra Little Feature

According to a recent blog post from Playground Games, the PS5 Pro edition of the game includes real-time ray tracing both during gameplay and across the entire open world. On the other hand, the Xbox versions offer this feature exclusively within garages.
Although it may appear minor, it’s unexpected that an exclusive Xbox game would visually outshine its counterpart on a rival console such as the PlayStation 5 Pro. At the minimum, car reflections in this specific case ought to show significantly improved quality on the PS5 Pro.
Additionally, Playground Games disclosed the graphic settings players will encounter when playing the PS5 edition of the game.
Forza Horizon 5 Graphical Modes On PS5
There will be two modes to choose from:
- Performance Mode (60fps)
- Quality Mode (30fps)
On the PS5 Pro console, the Performance mode offers enhanced graphical quality, while the Quality mode introduces ray-traced reflection effects for vehicles in Race and Free Roam modes.
If you’re considering a pre-order for the game, those who opt for the Premium Edition will get a three-day head start starting from April 25, whereas players with the standard version will begin their racing journey on April 28.
No matter which version you pre-order, you’ll receive the following items:
- Forza Horizon 5’s cover car: the 2021 Mercedes-AMG Mercedes-AMG ONE
- 5,000 #Forzathon Points which can be used to buy cars and cosmetics
- 5 Backstage Passes which can be used to unlock any hard-to-find car available in the Backstage Shop
Be sure not to overlook it: In the initial release, Forza Horizon 5 on PlayStation 5 supports crossplay, enabling you and your Xbox friends to compete in races from the very start.
2021 saw the launch of Forza Horizon 5, a top-notch racing game on the Xbox platform. On Open Critic, it garnered an impressive “Mighty” rating and a stunning 100% positive feedback from critics – a first for me to witness!
Forza Horizon 5 makes its way to PS5 on April 28, 2025.
