Cutting One Concept Makes Monster Hunter Wilds Customization Way Less Frustrating

After much anticipation, the long-awaited Monster Hunter Wilds has arrived, introducing several substantial enhancements to the series. Drawing on insights from its advanced predecessors, Wilds is blending thrilling new gameplay elements while maintaining the earthy feel that made World so beloved among its massive fanbase. Whether you’re new to Monster Hunter or a seasoned series veteran, Capcom delivers an exceptional new Monster Hunter adventure that surpasses the standards set by its predecessors.

In essence, Monster Hunter Wilds is poised to follow in the footsteps of Monster Hunter World, particularly as it served as an introduction for numerous newcomers. Yet, Wilds appears to be a genuine successor to World, refining and polishing many of its rougher aspects. One of the methods Capcom has employed to achieve this refinement is by significantly simplifying the gameplay experience. This streamlining is further bolstered by its semi-open world and travel systems that provide a seamless transition between locations. Beyond the enhancements made to the gameplay in Monster Hunter Wilds, its cosmetic features have undergone a significant transformation, providing an unprecedented degree of freedom for players within the franchise thus far.

You No Longer Have To Craft Layered Armor In Wilds

Unlocking Limitless Potential For Fashion Hunters

Among the notable enhancements to the aesthetic aspect of Monster Hunter Wilds, particularly noteworthy is the elimination of material prerequisites for layered armor. Previously, the introduction of outfit vouchers in Rise was a minor advancement from the resource gathering grind in MH World, but it noticeably prolonged the process and frequently diminished the enthusiasm to collect new decorative outfits. Fortunately, unlike hunting specific monsters or completing specific quests for outfit vouchers, crafting a high-rank armor piece for the Hunter or Palico in Wilds directly unlocks its layered armor equivalent, thereby streamlining the process significantly.

In the Monster Hunter series, the lack of layered armor in earlier games was noticeable. However, the increased variety of options available in Monster Hunter “Wilds” represents a significant upgrade right from the start. It’s important to note that while layered armor is included in the base game of “Wilds”, it isn’t immediately accessible when you first enter the game; instead, you will unlock it as you advance through the storyline.

Monster Hunter Wilds Takes Customization To The Next Level

Offering Plenty Of Freedom To Decorate To Your Heart’s Content

In an exciting leap forward, Wilds elevates previous customization options to unprecedented heights by merging them with an extensive array of armor types, surpassing the franchise’s prior record. This appears to provide approximately four armor sets per monster, in addition to the abolition of gender-restricted armor. The delightful freedom to blend and choose as we please is a welcomed touch, made even more enjoyable by the revamped photo mode to flaunt your stylish hunting attire. Initially, many beginner outfits display impressive detail and the distinct character that Monster Hunter is renowned for.

In Monster Hunter Wilds, not only can you customize your hunter, but also your relationship with Seikret can now be personalized to a greater degree as well. As you advance through the story, more options become available. Although some fans may be disappointed that the decorative room for the hunter is no longer present, Capcom has merged the room customization with the portable tent system, significantly increasing its usefulness.

Although I thoroughly enjoyed personalizing my hunter’s abode to suit my preferences, finding time to actually visit it was quite limited. However, the tent customization in the Wilds seamlessly filled this void. It’s not unusual that you can tweak the colors and some decorations for the tent, but what sets Monster Hunter Wilds apart is its feature that allows you to alter the furniture and background music when nearby. Whether it’s dining with a comrade or honing my combat skills on a training barrel, I can now adjust these elements according to my mood.
