Tactical FPS Set in Post-Apocalyptic America Will Be Playable Again Soon

Small Indie Studio recently announced that the game “We The People” will be playable during Steam’s Zombie Festival, happening from May 26 to June 2. This tactical first-person shooter has been in production by Small Indie Company for several years and is reminiscent of games like Escape from Tarkov, Fallout, and Rainbow Six. Initial impressions suggest it’s shaping up quite well.

In 2023, I had the opportunity to pose some questions to the team at Small Indie Company. Their passion for We The People was contagious, and it piqued my interest. Recently, in their latest development log, they unveiled the advancements and improvements they’ve made to their upcoming project over the past few months.

Evolving

The game “We The People” will go live on Steam once it’s fully prepared. At this moment, we don’t have a specific release date for the game, but a playable demo is scheduled to appear on May 26th. This demo will provide players with a brief opportunity to experience the latest improvements before its official launch.

In a development log posted on March 1, marking the first update since April 2024, the team shared details about the projects they’ve been developing over nearly a year.

The main improvements in We The People focus on enriching in-game experiences by enhancing aspects such as gun recoil, equipment malfunctions, and sound suppression effects. Additionally, our team has made adjustments to throwable items, the inventory system, and improved environment optimization, while refining character movement mechanics.

This is all based on feedback secured during the last playtest.

In a post-apocalyptic version of America, where desolation reigns, you find yourself among the scarce survivors. My understanding of its operation came when I connected with a small independent company around the year 2023.

We openly recognize that we’re building upon the solid foundations laid by trailblazers such as EFT and DayZ. Our aim is to honor them, add a touch of humor to their remarkable achievements, and at the same time, push the boundaries of the extraction genre with fresh ideas and substantial progress.

We’re treating “We The People” as a heartfelt tribute to the genre, allowing players to witness its development over time. We have a clear vision for the minimum essential features that will kickstart our Early Access launch on Steam, along with long-term strategies for the game’s future growth and development.

In the past, I discovered that the idea is to establish in-game auction houses based on a peer-to-peer model, along with vendors, specific questlines, and advancement systems. Additionally, there’s an intention to create a secure zone serving as a ‘hub’, playing a central role in the structure of the extraction shooter gameplay.

We The People can be wishlisted on Steam ahead of the next playable demo going live.
