In contrast to other games in the Monster Hunter series, Monster Hunter Wilds is surprisingly accessible, but it’s by no means simple. You’ll encounter numerous monsters to battle, each yielding materials that are essential for creating armor and weapons within Monster Hunter Wilds. Additionally, while roaming the game world, you’ll come across a myriad of items that can be used to craft temporary items.
As a devoted Monster Hunter Wilds enthusiast, I can attest that determining what gear is effective and ineffective is indeed a complex conundrum. However, these handy tips are here to simplify matters, particularly during the initial stages of the game. Let’s focus on the fundamentals for now!
6. Armorskin
Boosts Defense Temporarily
- Ingredients: Catalyst and Adamant Seed
The Armorskin can be made using a Catalyst and Adamant Seeds, both of which are abundantly available in the game world, along with most other crafting materials. This armor temporarily boosts your defense and certain items, such as the Item Prolonger, can extend this effect by making it last 10% longer.
In Monster Hunters Wilds, as I embark on my first quest, I find myself adorned with the Chatacabra Armor – it’s got a froggy vibe going on. This isn’t just any armor; it’s the Item Prolonger-equipped version that players start their journey with. Now, when it comes to defense, there’s another item I’ve come across – Hardshell Powder. It works similar to Armorskin, but instead of being attached to an individual piece of equipment, it can be spread across an area for everyone to benefit from. Perfect for those group hunts! If I’m playing solo though, the trusty Armorskin will do just fine.
5. Demondrug
Boosts Attack Power Temporarily

- Ingredients: Catalyst and Might Seed
In Monster Hunter Wilds, the Demondrug requires both a Catalyst and a Common Might Seed for its creation. Consuming this item temporarily increases your attack power. To maximize your stats, consider preparing meals in the game.
In Monster Hunter Wilds, if players fail to cook before a mission or wish to enhance their performance, using a Demondrug is beneficial. This applies not only to close combat weapons like swords but also to ranged weapons such as bows. These monsters have high health, so any additional power increase can be helpful.
4. Energy Drink
Boosts Stamina Temporarily

- Ingredients: Nitroshoom and Honey
You can concoct the Energy Drink by blending a touch of Nitroshooms and Honey. In much the same way as in reality, honey serves as a magical bond that unites numerous tasty elements together. This invigorating beverage will offer a temporary stamina boost while also restoring some of your depleted stamina levels.
In Monster Hunter Wilds, larger weapons tend to consume more stamina, such as the Great Sword or Hammer. An Energy Drink is designed to combat drowsiness, but here’s the catch: if players are already asleep, they can’t use the item. This situation might seem like a Catch-22, although it’s likely just a humorous conundrum that may leave some players puzzled.
3. Herbal Medicine
Cure Poison And Heal HP

- Ingredients: Antidote and Blue Mushroom
In RPGs like Monster Hunter Wilds, antidotes are used to remove the ‘poisoned’ status. While they do work, herbal medicine provides a better option as it heals HP and removes poison at the same time. To create an antidote in the game, you’ll need some antidote and blue mushrooms which can be found abundantly across various game zones.
Players might find it beneficial to acquire some Herbal Powder, another useful item that impacts the game area. This powder could prove particularly helpful against monsters that inflict poison on your party, as both items would be advantageous to have readily available. Poison is a challenging status effect often found in games like Monster Hunter Wilds, draining life and HP becomes crucial during intense battles, making it precious in such situations.
2. Mega Potion
Heal HP

- Ingredients: Potions and Honey
As a dedicated gamer, I’ve come to appreciate that while stat-enhancing items are undeniably useful in RPGs, there’s one category of items that truly stands out as indispensable: HP restoratives. From the very beginning of the game until its final moments, these items are an absolute must-have.
Initially, you’ll start with Potion recipes made from common Herbs. They serve you well and are a reliable companion throughout your journey. Yet, as time progresses, you’ll find that Mega Potions, crafted using simple Potions and Honey, offer significantly more healing power. These should definitely not be overlooked!
As a gamer, I’ve found Life Powders to be quite handy when it comes to boosting my party’s health in the early stages of the game. Crafting Max Potions isn’t exactly a breeze during those initial hours, but you can grab these healing items from various pick-ups, rewards, or shops. They might not raise our HP bar as dramatically as Mega Potions, but they’re certainly a reliable backup and serve their purpose like a well-prepared meal at home.
1. Shock Trap
Be Like Ash Ketchum And Catch Monsters

- Ingredients: Trap Tool and Thunderbug Capacitor
In the game “Monster Hunter Wilds”, there are two strategies to conquer monsters and accomplish missions:
1. The common approach most gamers opt for involves attacking monsters, reducing their health points (HP), a method known as slaying. After defeating the monster, players can collect its remains for parts that they can use to craft armor and weapons.
setting traps! Monsters trapped in these devices yield even more valuable resources when defeated.
Initially, gamers should create a Shock Trap by assembling a Trap Tool with a Thunderbug Capacitor. Once a creature seems close to defeat, players should place the Shock Trap. The creature will be immobilized, but afterward, they’ll need to use a Tranq Bomb, made from Sleep Herbs and Parashrooms, to sedate it. If everything works out, players can imagine themselves as Ash Ketchum from the Pokemon series, having successfully captured a monster of their own.
