Monster Hunter Wilds: How To Beat Blagonga (Weaknesses and Rewards)

As a dedicated fan of Monster Hunter Wilds, let me share some insights about the enigmatic Blagonga! This beast has unique strengths and weaknesses that every hunter should be aware of. Here’s a breakdown on how to conquer it:

First off, understanding its strengths is crucial. Blagonga’s powerful claws can deal immense damage, so keep your distance when possible. Additionally, its swift movements make it difficult to predict and dodge its attacks.

However, every monster has weaknesses, and Blagonga is no exception. Its tail offers a vulnerable spot that, if targeted correctly, can leave it open for devastating counterattacks. Also, be mindful of its telltale signs before it performs certain moves – this will help you anticipate and dodge them effectively.

To defeat the Blagonga, focus on striking its tail until it’s weakened significantly. Once the opportunity arises, unleash a well-timed Flinch Shot to knock it down, then finish it off with a series of powerful attacks while it’s incapacitated.

Remember, patience and strategy are key when hunting Blagonga. Good luck, fellow hunters! May your quests be successful, and may the spirits guide you on your journey through Monster Hunter Wilds!

In the game Monster Hunter Wilds, Blagonga – a recurring beast from Monster Hunter Generations – has set up camp in the Iceshard Region. Accompanying Blagonga are numerous other Blango pack members. Contrary to some of the more challenging monsters in this region, this fight is relatively straightforward. However, Blagonga exhibits a knack for utilizing its surroundings to gain an edge. Without a grasp of its strengths and weaknesses, the battle can escalate rapidly into a tough predicament.

This manual provides comprehensive information on Blagonga, covering its advantages, disadvantages, and techniques for hunting it effectively.

Blagonga Overview

In the treacherous Iceshard Cliffs, you might come across a massive creature known as Blagonga – a member of the Fang Beast family resembling a towering ape. This Ice-wielding monster, with its Frost Breath attack, is an elemental force to be reckoned with. Its physical appearance shares similarities with other fanged beasts such as Congalala and Ajarakan, boasting muscular limbs for powerful strikes and nimble feet for swift, agile movements.

Blagonga possesses an exceptional trait that could pose challenges for the Hunter. This creature is exceptionally cunning and adept at leveraging its environment to its benefit. Given Blagonga’s ability to blend seamlessly with its surroundings, it often employs snowy terrains for stealthy ambushes on the Hunter. Furthermore, one of Blagonga’s unique qualities is its affiliation with other monsters in the region. A Blagonga can typically be spotted traveling with a group of its kind, known as Blango. Blango are smaller, ape-like monsters who initially follow Blagonga but may choose to challenge its leadership when they deem it appropriate.

How To Unlock Blagonga in Monster Hunter Wilds

In Monster Hunter Wilds, Blagonga is a formidable monster of top-tier difficulty that becomes accessible once a hunter has advanced to High Rank. To encounter this beast, your Hunter Rank should be at least ten.

Where To Find Blagonga

As a seasoned gamer, when I’m up in High Rank and have 10 HR, I often wander around the chilly expanse of the Iceshard Cliffs. If luck is on my side, I might just stumble upon Blagonga. Unlike some creatures, there are no specific hangouts for Blagonga within the Iceshard Cliffs. So, if you want to find it, a thorough search of this icy terrain is in order.

Possible Turf Wars for Blagonga

At the moment, Blagonga finds itself in a situation where it can potentially clash with Hirabami, a snake-like beast that dwells within the Iceshard Cliffs. It’s strongly advised to seize any opportunity for conflict between these two entities when it arises.

Blagonga Weaknesses

In terms of vulnerabilities, Blagonga is particularly susceptible to the Fire and Thunder elements. A key point to remember is that it has no resistance or immunity to any status effects. This means that using Torch Pods and Thunder Pods can lead to a rapid accumulation of Paralysis or Blastblight.

Blagonga Elemental Weaknesses

  • Fireblight
  • Thunderblight

Blagonga Status Weaknesses

  • Poison
  • Sleep
  • Paralysis
  • Stun
  • Blastblight
  • Exhaust

Of course, since Blagonga belongs to the family of Ice Element monsters, it’s immune to both Iceblight and Dragonblight. All types of damage, including Slash, Blunt, and Projectile, can harm Blagonga equally. However, given its high agility, it’s advisable to avoid using slow weapons during the battle with Blagonga.

Blagonga Weak Points

When fighting Blagonga, there are two key areas you should target:

1. The rear of Blagonga is its least protected part, making it vulnerable to increased damage if attacked there.
2. Its fangs, both of which can be broken, are another weak point. Once broken, smaller Blango will stop obeying the Blagonga, allowing for a more even fight with the Blagonga, as other creatures will no longer follow its commands.

Best Weapons for Blagonga in Monster Hunter Wilds

When facing Blagonga, your most effective tool is anything you can swing at it. Quick weapons like Dual Blades and Long Swords are advantageous due to their rapid attack speed. Additionally, Greatswords and Hammers can inflict heavy damage if you land a hit on the monster. However, be mindful of the Frostblight accumulation during combat as being frozen leaves you vulnerable for Blagonga’s counterattacks. For additional edge in this battle, consider wielding a Fire or Thunder element weapon; these can significantly expedite your progress against Blagonga.

Here are some weapons that can be used against Blagonga effectively:

  • Great Sword
  • Dual Blades
  • Hammer
  • Long Sword

How To Beat Blagonga in MH Wilds

When battling a Blagonga, be mindful not to let yourself be confused by the numerous Blangos it conjures. What you want to steer clear of above everything else is its Frost Breath attack. Although this move doesn’t deal much damage individually, it accumulates Iceblight on you, which can significantly impair your mobility during the fight. Therefore, try to dodge or counter this attack by moving skillfully. Fortunately, the Frost Breath has a lengthy wind-up period. Take advantage of this time to approach Blagonga carefully and target its vulnerable spots.

Initially, concentrate on Blagongas’ fangs during combat. Hammers and Greatswords are particularly useful for damaging the fangs if you can strike them successfully. Once these have been destroyed, Blagonga will find it difficult to summon allies, making the fight much simpler. The majority of its attacks involve physical blows such as punches, kicks, and leap attacks. These moves are relatively easy to evade due to their lengthy charging periods. The leap attack in particular provides ample warning as Blagonga jumps several times before lunging towards you. Additionally, when it leaps, Blagonga lands with a slide, offering an excellent chance to retaliate from behind.

Blagonga too can utilize the snow nearby as a strategic resource. One of its attacks involves burying its arms in the snow and tossing it forward. It’s crucial to maintain a safe distance when it buries its hands in the snow. The attack you should be wary of is called “Dig.” In this move, Blagonga dives into the snow for a few moments before emerging to attack the hunter. This can be effortlessly avoided because, with your lock-on feature, you can trace the monster’s movements beneath the snow.

Tips To Defeat Blagonga

Here are some tips that can help you easily defeat Blagonga:

  • Try to break off the fangs as soon as you can. This can stop Blagonga from summoning allies.
  • Blagonga has long attacking windows after its attacks. Use this time to close in and deal damage. The window of opportunity you get after the Leap Attack is your best chance to hit its weak points.
  • Traps of all sorts are useful against this monster; lay them around the arena and bait Blagonga into them. Use Flash Pods to stun Blagonga when you are ready to deal damage.
  • You can use weapons from the Rathalos and Nu Udra tree to effectively damage Blagonga with Fire Element. Thunder Element weapons can also work just fine when fighting this monster.
  • Armor from the Hirabami tree is quite resistant to Ice Elements, which can be quite effective when fighting Blagonga due to it being able to inflict Frostblight with its Ice Breath.
