Video game publisher/developer Capcom is seeing a major change in their corporate team.
As reported by VGC, Yoichi Egawa, currently serving as Executive Corporate Officer, will be resigning starting from April 1st. He will also relinquish his position as Chief Product Officer, which involves managing Capcom’s development divisions.
Ryozo Tsujimoto, who is currently the deputy head of Capcom’s development divisions and has been the series producer for Monster Hunter since 2007 (starting with the launch of Monster Hunter Freedom 2), will be taking over from the current position.
He started working as a developer for the Monster Hunter series from its initial release, focusing on the development and planning of the original Monster Hunter (in 2004) for online systems. Since the launch of Monster Hunter 4 in 2013, he has held key positions such as Senior Producer or Executive Producer on every single Monster Hunter game, including the latest release, Monster Hunter World.
On April 1st, he is set to take up the role of Chief Product Officer, with responsibility for managing all of Capcom’s product development divisions.
Monster Hunter Has Become Capcom’s Most Successful Franchise
The latest addition to the Monster Hunter series, titled “Monster Hunter Wilds,” has once again proven to be a massive success. Following its predecessor, Monster Hunter World, Capcom’s action role-playing game centered around monster hunting, has become one of the most triumphant games in the gaming industry.
In less than a day since its debut, the game managed to gather over a million simultaneous players on Steam, peaking at almost 1.4 million simultaneously active players.
The excitement surrounding Monster Hunter Wilds is immense, as evidenced by the fact that its predecessor, Monster Hunter World, surpassed one million sales marks since October 2024 – a remarkable feat considering it was introduced back in 2018!
In our assessment, we expressed that 2025 seems to be brimming with existing and forthcoming games that are potential Game of the Year (GOTY) candidates. Although many of these games haven’t been launched yet, I have a strong intuition that Monster Hunter Rise will at least receive a nomination for winning the top honor.
