The “Chainsaw Man” anime continues to explore the Public Safety Saga, which is equivalent to the first part of the manga. While the primary villains in Part 1 and Part 2 appear dissimilar and seemingly unrelated, they share certain characteristics in common.

In contrast to many characters from Chainsaw Man Part 1 who meet their demise in the storyline, Denji remains as the one character who appears in both parts. Interestingly, there’s a character named Kobeni Higashiyama who is expected to survive until the end of Part 1. So, we wonder, what is Kobeni up to during the events unfolding in the Academy Saga?

Who Is Kobeni Higashiyama?

Kobeni might not have won over a lot of international viewers, yet she enjoyed considerable popularity within Japan’s fanbase during the initial series run. To be fair, there are still some international fans who appreciate her charm.

Essentially, Kobeni is a girl who is prone to fearfulness and readily startled. In order to help her family financially, she entered into an agreement with an unnamed demon, becoming a Devil Hunter. On occasion, she refers to her demon as a “secret”, suggesting that she may feel embarrassed or ashamed about it.

Until she leaves her job and starts working as a waitress instead, she remains in danger, which is unfortunate for her. Readers often speculate about who she could have made a pact with – some even joke that it must be a devil associated with her bad luck, or any other amusing theories fans might concoct.

What Happened to Kobeni In Part 1?

In the perilous role of Devil Hunter, I’ve witnessed Kobeni’s spirit, although not typically bold, was far from weak. Yet, the risks became too much for her to bear, prompting her to leave this treacherous occupation behind. Subsequently, she found a more tranquil position as a waitress in a local eatery, perhaps seeking a calmer life.

Regrettably, Kobeni often finds herself in perilous circumstances, coming close to death on numerous occasions. Despite her reputation for ill fortune, it could be argued that she is remarkably fortunate to have survived up until Part 1 – perhaps her bad luck doesn’t apply in truly dangerous situations.

In the Public Safety Saga, she often appears as a regular character, and at one point, she went out on a date with Chainsaw Devil, yet another instance where her life was potentially at risk.

Will We See Kobeni in Part 2?

It seems that so far, Kobeni hasn’t shown up in Part 2 and fans are eagerly awaiting her reappearance, if she will indeed be there, to find out what happens to her next.

From an outside perspective, it seems Kobeni’s journey isn’t an easy one, and perhaps it would be best for her peace of mind if she chose to stay away from the public eye. This way, her fans could only wish that, miraculously, she is thriving amidst life’s challenges. Given the circumstances of Part 1, it’s reasonable to assume she’s still working as a waitress or similar job, or perhaps the weight of everything has left its mark on her.

How Long Until The Anime Covers Part 2?

This year, as the “Reze Arc” movie is set to debut, there’s a strong possibility that news about “Chainsaw Man Season 2” will be shared after the film’s release. Given that the first season adapted close to 30 chapters, it seems plausible that Season 2 could delve into the remaining chapters of the Public Safety Saga.

2026-2027 might just be the year when season 2 of this incredible anime drops! If so, it’d be an exciting leap forward into the Academy Saga from around 2027-2028 – a period I can hardly wait for as a dedicated fan!
