Where To Find Rime Beetles In Monster Hunter Wilds

Rime Beetles can only be found in the chilly Iceshard Cliffs, which becomes accessible as you advance through the storyline of Wilds. This region is inhabited by fearsome creatures such as Jin Dahaad, and it’s essential to drink hot beverages regularly to combat the harsh cold that could potentially cause detrimental effects to your character.

Hey there! As a gamer exploring the Iceshard Cliffs, I’ve noticed an unusual abundance of Rime Beetles hanging out around zones 2, 11, and 13. If you check the map screenshots provided, you’ll find their exact locations. Just remember that their spots can change with the seasons; you might find more during Plenty than Fallow. There could be some hidden spots too, but these three seem to be the most consistent. Happy hunting!

Instead of searching high and low for Rime Beetles, which are ground-dwelling creatures and not airborne insects, try looking for small, self-rolling snowballs on the ground. These peculiar movements are actually the Rime Beetles at work. Your Field Guide will enlighten you about their peculiar behavior, as they collect snowballs to transport back to their nests for unknown reasons.

If you’re having difficulty locating Rime Beetles in the given spots for any cause, consider adjusting the Filter Icons setting on your map instead. To do this, navigate two times right on the D-Pad when the map is displayed, followed by pressing X/A to open a menu showcasing all resources distributed across the map. From there, browse through the list until you find the Rime Beetle, and then use the left and right buttons on your D-Pad to examine each location where they can be found.

Every now and then, Rime Beetles may vanish. At first, I rushed to area 2 to accomplish the quest since there were many of them wandering about. However, while I was capturing those screenshots, the Rime Beetles had vanished from my map, leaving me no choice but to travel to Area 11 instead.

Using Your Capture Net

In order to meet Samin’s demand, you can’t just grab the Rime Beetle by pressing Circle or B button alone. Instead, you need to employ your slinger to catch it initially. To do this, first make sure you have the necessary tool equipped. You can access your toolbar by holding L1/LB. Once there, scroll through the options using Square/X and Circle/B, and choose the Capture Net when you find it. With the Capture Net selected, use your slinger as you normally would – aim with L2/LT and fire with R2/RT. Once you’ve caught the Rime Beetle, take it back to Samin at the Windward Plains Base Camp to claim your rewards.

You’ll find the Mandragora particularly useful. Honey, on the other hand, is essential for upgrading your regular Potions into mega Potions. Although not as powerful, you can carry a larger quantity of them at any given time.

In Monster Hunter Wilds, you don’t necessarily have to go on a specific quest to find Samin’s Rime Beetles. Instead, they can be discovered incidentally as you traverse the Iceshard Cliffs.
