Ubisoft’s ‘Project U’ Intro Cinematic Leaks Online

Information about the opening movie for Ubisoft’s ‘Project U’, a game that was being created by Ubisoft Annecy, has been made public on the internet.

It was announced exclusively by TopMob in November 2024 that the game had been returned to its developmental phase, after being worked on for five consecutive years.

As a gaming enthusiast, I recently stumbled upon some exclusive footage uploaded by the renowned leaker, Shaun Weber, on YouTube. This sneak peek offers a captivating glimpse of the game’s opening cinematic, setting the mood for the upcoming adventure. If you haven’t already, take a look at the intro below, but beware, it might get taken down soon due to copyright issues.

The ‘Pathfinder’ codenamed project, later identified as Project U, was designed to revolutionize the Play vs. Play vs. Environment (PvPvE) genre. It was officially unveiled in September 2022 as a unique form of session-based cooperative shooting game.

Based on reports, the development of this game encountered numerous setbacks and postponements because of its extensive replay value, causing its production costs to skyrocket significantly. After five years, the game was still not satisfactory, leading Ubisoft to cancel the project altogether.

Rather than completely cancelling the game, it’s been returned to an internal development team at Ubisoft. This is because they still believe that PvE games can thrive, using Helldivers 2 as a prime example of a successful PvE game that could fit well in today’s gaming environment.

Regarding the future of Project U – whether it evolves or gets terminated – that’s still uncertain. However, it’s pleasing to observe some parts of the project being shared with the public, as far as I’m concerned.
