In Season 7 of “My Hero Academia”, All Might plays a crucial part in strategizing against All For One and Shigaraki Tomura. As the season drew to a close, however, All Might found himself engaged in a personal confrontation – one that he had been anticipating for quite some time. In this epic showdown, All Might once again crossed swords with All For One, but this was the first time he fought without his Quirk by his side. Although they have clashed before, this battle marked a significant shift in their ongoing struggle.
As the season draws to a close, All Might dons a mechanical exosuit and transforms into Armored All Might. This suit, tailor-made for the impending battle against All For One, has capabilities named after students from Class A at U.A. High School – each student’s spirit inspiring the unique functions of the armor.
All that I’ve been blessed with… will bear its weight against you!!
In their race towards Shigaraki, All Might served as one of the final barriers against All For One. Earlier, Tokoyami Fumikage and Mount Lady inflicted heavy damage on All For One, which not only weakened him but also expedited his aging process due to repeated wounds. Although All For One had transformed into a younger form than his prime, he could no longer fully control his impulsiveness owing to another entity within him – Shigaraki’s darkness.
Despite landing some effective blows against All For One, Armored All Might was ultimately overpowered by him, despite his significant decline during the fight. As the combat persists, signs emerge that One For All’s essence within All Might is manifesting, suggesting that as the struggle with All For One prolongs, All Might may soon meet his demise.
All Might’s Role in Season 8
The End Of An Era and The Start of the New Generation
In the series, All Might’s purpose was to serve as a Beacon of Peace. Before he ascended to the rank of Number 1 Pro Hero, as Toshinori Yagi, All Might recognized the necessity for a substantial societal shift due to the transformation of grief into hatred, which fostered an endless loop of revenge and conflict. Despite being Quirkless at that time, he understood that society required a symbol and hero they could trust, one who would bring tranquility and disrupt the endless cycle of fear.
In Season 8, All Might’s position signifies the closing of an epoch. For many years within this show, All Might has functioned as a Pro Hero, always ready to fight against wrongdoing, regardless of the magnitude or nature of the crisis faced by civilians. Given his long-standing commitment and effort, it came as a surprise when he announced his retirement, as there was no one yet who seemed capable of replacing All Might in the role he had so masterfully filled.
During the fierce battle against All For One, All Might endures severe wounds and employs adrenaline to suppress his agony, underscoring the brutal nature of their encounter and the pressure on his Armored Suit. Surprisingly, he’ll receive assistance from an unanticipated ally who will assist in postponing the battle with All For One. Stain, who has long respected All Might, views him as a true hero because he’s never been tainted by corruption or sought heroism for personal profit.
Observing Stain, who had transformed into the Hero Killer, I could see he held a unique perspective on society – one that led him to target corrupt heroes. Yet, despite his radical actions, there was respect in his eyes when it came to All Might. He yearned to aid him in the fight against All For One, a menace far more destructive and corrupt than any stain. Regrettably, Stain’s battle ended abruptly, leaving All Might stunned and barely standing after enduring an attack from All For One, shielded or not.
No matter how it goes down, his death… marks the end of an era.
Despite facing overwhelming odds and appearing defeated, All Might, known for his unyielding spirit, never gave up against All For One. Even in a state of severe injury, he refused to succumb, maintaining his image as the savior while remaining unwilling to be saved himself. It wasn’t until the moment when All For One was about to execute All Might publicly that Bakugo Katsuki, having regained his health thanks to Edgeshot, intervened at the last possible second, rescuing All Might instead.
After the Great War concluded, I too stepped back from the fray, my body bearing the scars of my fierce encounter with All For One. Post-conflict, I found myself confined to a wheelchair and adorned with a neck brace, a stark reminder of the years of relentless fighting that had taken their toll on me. Fast forward eight years, using the blueprint of All Might’s Armored Suit, Melissa Shield and Hatsume ingeniously crafted a mechanical exosuit for Izuku Midoriya. Funding for this project was generously provided by the esteemed alumni of Class A, with Katsuki Bakugo spearheading the initiative, leading us toward a new era of heroism.
- All might symbolize an end of an era and the start of the new generation.
- All Might’s retirement from heroism officially concluded once Bakugo Katsuki saved him from All For One.
To underscore All Might’s pivotal role in the series, he once more empowers Midoriya to continue his heroic journey. In the final season, All Might aids a Quirkless Midoriya Izuku with advanced technology to aid him in future fights. Although it’s not a Quirk like One For All, Midoriya’s deep understanding of Quirks and diverse experiences with multiple Quirks will enable him to utilize this technology effectively, making him a hero once more. In Season 8, All Might’s actions carry immense weight: not only did he foster Midoriya’s dream of being a hero, passing on the mantle to the new generation of heroes, but also physically presented Midoriya with the suit, symbolizing his role as both mentor and backer.
