Summary
- Next Xbox won’t be available until 2027, stated by Jez Corden.
- Next Xbox rumored as a PC with TV-friendly shell; Call of Duty rumor debunked.
- Potential delay of Fable game in 2025 unconfirmed; enthusiasts await future Xbox reveal.
Although the current-generation consoles (PS5, Xbox Series X|S) still have plenty of life ahead, hints about the upcoming Xbox model seem to be surfacing early on.
The most recent piece of news concerning the upcoming Xbox is from Jez Corden, a reliable source for information on Xbox and Microsoft matters.
Next Xbox Won’t Be Available Until 2027 It’s Claimed

In an episode of the Xbox Two podcast, Corden explained that the upcoming Xbox will essentially function like a powerful computer (a PC), but it will be designed in a way that makes it user-friendly on TVs, which is essentially what consoles have always been about.
Corden explains that the concept behind the next Xbox is similar to a PC, but designed with a user interface suitable for TV and tailored specifications. This means developers will be creating games as if for a Windows PC, but aware of the exact specifications. If the Call of Duty rumor is true, it suggests the development kits are more about the targeted specs for the next Xbox, not about possessing any development kit themselves.
The rumor Corden is discussing is the one posted by Call of Duty leak source Ghost of Hope on Twitter, in which they claim that Call of Duty 2026 is being created using devkits for the upcoming Xbox.
Corden clarifies, “If the report about Call of Duty launching on the next-generation Xbox in 2026 is correct, there isn’t a developer’s kit available at this moment. The assumption that developers have already received the development kit for the next-gen Xbox… that’s incorrect.
Essentially, Corden debunks the speculation that “Call of Duty 2026” is being crafted using the next Xbox development kits, as he clarifies that no such devkits have been created or distributed to developers yet.
Just like the whispers about the devkit rumors, this information is not yet verified, so it’s best to approach it with a bit of skepticism. If there’s any truth to it, then gamers might be getting the latest generation of consoles in two years, which I personally find acceptable.
From a personal perspective, I find myself intrigued by what Microsoft might name this new device, as they don’t adhere to the conventional numbering scheme used by other brands like PS5 to PS6 or Nintendo Switch 2. Perhaps we could see names like Xbox Series Z or Xbox Alpha. If it does get unveiled, I hope for a more innovative controller design, rather than simply replicating that of the Xbox Series X|S and moving on. This is assuming there will even be another next-gen Xbox. Interestingly, a former executive at Xbox has suggested that Microsoft might forego hardware production if given the choice.
As a gamer, I’ve been loving the PS5’s DualSense controller lately. If you’re in the same boat and find it more comfortable than the traditional Xbox gamepad, listen up! A clever accessory maker is crafting “The Competitor” controller, specifically designed for the Xbox Series X|S. It’s modeled after the DualSense, offering a familiar feel for us PS5 fans on our Xbox consoles.
