In Monster Hunter Wilds, there are scarce and unique items that don’t appear on the map as pick-up spots, nor in a monster’s loot inventory, or anywhere else for that matter. The game provides no guidance in locating these items, leaving players searching aimlessly to find them.
Among the listed items, you’ll come across one called Chaliceweed – a very scarce plant that can be discovered accidentally. It’s crucial for conducting trades with Rove, the chatty Wudwud residing in the Iceshard Cliffs. Here’s where you might stumble upon it.
How to Get Chaliceweed in MH Wilds
Chaliceweed can be found in three different ways:
Method | Description | Farming Viability |
---|---|---|
Glass Algae (Rare spawn) | Gathering Glass Algae has a very small chance of dropping Chaliceweed instead of Golbetweed. | Yes (detailed below) |
Gastronome Tuna (Rare spawn) | Fishing out a Gastronome Tuna (Scarlet Forest Area 17) has a chance of dropping Chaliceweed. Since Gastronome Tuna is considered a whopper, fishing it is not easy to do, nor is it fast. | No |
Wudwud Bonfire Event | he Wudwuds have a Bonfire celebration at the roof of the Wudwud hideout when the season and time of day change to Plenty + Nighttime. All Wudwuds in the celebration will either offer free items or item exchanges. One of the possible items obtainable through this method is Chaliceweed. | No |
Chaliceweed Farming Method in MH Wilds
As a dedicated enthusiast, I’d be delighted to share my personal approach to farming Chaliceweed: The most straightforward method involves gathering Glass Algae, which can be found in the enchanting expanse of Area 12 within the Scarlet Forest. Here’s a simple guide on how to do it:
1. Make your way into the Scarlet Forest and locate Area 12.
2. Search for the elusive Glass Algae among the lush vegetation.
3. Collect as many Glass Algae as you can carry, remembering that each piece will contribute towards farming Chaliceweed.
4. Head back to wherever it is you need the Chaliceweed and use the collected Glass Algae in the appropriate process to farm your very own Chaliceweed!
- Equip an armor/talisman/decoration to obtain level 2 Geologist skill and, optionally, the Forest Forager skill.
- Teleport to Area 12: Northeast Pop-up Camp (set it up if you don’t have it already).
- Walk to the edge, and you’ll see the prompt to ‘Dive in.’ Do so.
- Your character will dive underwater, following a preset path, but you will be able to move the camera and gather materials using the Hook Slinger.
- Gather all Glass Algae in this area. They will be converted to either Gobletweed or Chaliceweed in your inventory. Look to the messages on the right of the screen to keep track.
- After you exit, open the World Map and fast travel to any location outside of the Scarlet Forest.
- Then, fast-travel back to the Area 12: Northeast camp.
- All Glass Algae will have respawned, and you can repeat the process.

Mount your Seikret and head to the area behind the waterfall that’s just to the northwest of the campsite.

To the left, you will see the water flowing downward in between two rocks (pictured above).

As a gamer, here’s my take on your instructions: “I need to venture into the depths of Scarlet Forest Area 12’s underwater zone. I should gather all the Glass Algae I can find there. After that, I’ll quickly zip off to another location using the fast travel system. Once I’ve done that, I’ll hop back to where I started and repeat the process until I’ve collected every last piece of Glass Algae.

Where to Use Chaliceweed
In the vicinity of Iceshard Cliff Area 20, specifically near the Area 20: Ancient Room Pop-up Camp, you can find Rove. He’s a character who offers trades, including Chaliceweed. Keep in mind that, similar to all Item Traders, Rove’s inventory gets replenished once a full day has passed within the game.
Normally, I’m on the lookout for trading Chaliceweed and Gobletweed, which you can gather from the Scarlet Forest by collecting Glass Algae. At any given time, I’ll only have three items available for trade in my Item Trade shop, but there are seven different items I can stock. Four of these require you to own a Chaliceweed to purchase them.
- Monster Broth (2)
- Whitefish Fin (1)
- Truffle du Conga (3)
- Blango Pelt+ (2)
Ancient Wyvern Coins, Comaqchi Shells, and Spider Webs are sold in exchange for Gobletweed.
Once the Rove’s Trading Post is made available, players can reach it from their base camp by conversing with Nata.
