Top Resident Evil Thrillers: When Heroes Saved the World from Certain Doom!

Summary

  • Resident Evil 0’s villain aimed to destroy Umbrella, altering the series timeline drastically.
  • In Resident Evil 6, Carla plotted to take over the world with the C-Virus but was stopped.
  • In Resident Evil 5, Wesker’s plan to infect the world was moments away, halted by Chris and Sheva.

In the world of Resident Evil, outbreaks and bioterror attacks and outbreaks are a regular occurrence. Most of the time, these will be contained within a single city, but there have been a few occasions where the stakes ended up getting worryingly high, with the fate of an entire nation, or even the whole world, resting on the heroes’ shoulders. As the Resident Evil series has gone on, the villains’ ambitions have only gotten more and more outlandish, with many of them being more than happy to plunge the world into chaos if it puts them one step closer to fulfilling their ultimate plan.

It’s fortunate that the Resident Evil series features many courageous and selfless characters who aren’t hesitant to risk their lives for the sake of global safety, even though there were instances where they came close to arriving too late. These are the Resident Evil games where the outcome could have been catastrophic if the villain hadn’t been thwarted in time, saving us from potential disaster.

8. Resident Evil 0

The Queen Leech Threatened The Existence Of Umbrella’s Organization

In Resident Evil 0’s narrative, the storyline is frequently viewed as bizarre and outlandish within the series, and this sentiment extends to its antagonist. Following James Marcus’ demise at the hands of Umbrella agents, one of his test leeches chooses to infiltrate Marcus’ body, assimilating his genetic material. This action is driven by a desire for retribution against the organization.

In the prequel game Resident Evil 0, the destruction of Umbrella could have ironically averted many of the worst outbreaks and events in the series, as the company’s demise might have prevented its further spread. However, if Rebecca and Billy hadn’t reluctantly joined forces when they did after the Spencer Mansion incident, it would have prevented the world from discovering Umbrella’s nefarious activities. Essentially, the course of the Resident Evil series would have been vastly altered had the events of Resident Evil 0 unfolded differently.

7. Resident Evil

Chris, Jill, And The Rest Of The STARS Crew Had Their Lives On The Line For The Entirety Of The First Game

In no time at all during the first “Resident Evil” game, Jill, Chris, and Barry come to understand they’re stuck inside a building teeming with hazardous mutants, monstrosities, and zombies. Consequently, each character fights tooth and nail just to stay alive, as the Bio-Organic Weapons (BOWs) grow increasingly perilous and ravenous throughout the game.

As Wesker unveils his concealed position as an Umbrella agent towards the game’s climax, the tension soars. With the mansion primed for self-destruct, the player relies on every remaining bullet, hidden away earlier, to defeat a Tyrant and flee – creating a heart-pounding journey where everyone’s survival is at stake from start to finish.

6. Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles (Umbrella’s End)

Chris And Jill Were Able To Take Down Umbrella Once And For All

This passage is about a crucial mission in the game “Umbrella Chronicles,” where Chris and Jill infiltrate an Umbrella base with the aim of exposing the organization’s wrongdoings globally. Although this mission is part of their many joint adventures, it holds significant importance in their careers. If the operation had failed, Umbrella would have escaped accountability for their actions, and the Talos project might have caused worldwide chaos instead of being contained.

In the Resident Evil universe, Umbrella’s data exposure significantly transformed the world, making this mission crucial. Under immense stress, Chris and Jill persevered, achieving their goal and serving justice, although it was anything but easy.

5. Resident Evil: Code Veronica

The World Almost Became A Giant ‘Ant’ Colony With A Horrible Queen At The Helm

In the game Code Veronica, Alexia doesn’t show up until quite late, but players can piece together her true motives by finding various documents and files throughout their journey. It turns out that Alexia was obsessed with ants and the T-Virus, which led her to conceive a plan to transform the world into a giant ant colony, with herself as the queen. Although it may seem absurd, Alexia almost succeeded in realizing her lifelong dream of ruling over such a realm.

Without Chris, Claire, and a nudge from Wesker, Alexia might’ve ascended into a menacing ruler, plunging the world into an era of turmoil and pain. I never imagined that my quest to locate my long-lost sibling would turn out to be a mission to safeguard the globe instead.

4. Resident Evil 6

Carla Was Plotting A Global Takeover Behind The Scenes

In Resident Evil 6, while Simmons is portrayed as the main antagonist, it’s actually Carla who poses the greatest threat to global destruction. As the head of Neo-Umbrella, a sinister organization, Carla orchestrates the unprovoked release of the deadly C-Virus across various American and Chinese cities.

Leon and Helena removed Simmons from the scene, but it was Ada who put an end to Carla when she attempted her master plan. Meanwhile, Chris and Piers stopped a potential disaster by destroying the massive Biological Weapons Operation (BOW) called HAOS, which was designed to spread Carla’s deadly virus throughout the world.

3. Resident Evil 2 & 3

Every Survivor Of Raccoon City Tried Their Best To Escape The Oncoming Obliteration

Since the grim revelation that Raccoon City has been overrun by the undead, I, along with Leon, Claire, and Jill, instantly grasp the gravity of the situation – not just for us, but for every city dweller. Despite our tireless efforts to aid survivors in their flight, the toll is heavy, with many lives claimed. When the order for nuclear bombs is given, it becomes a desperate last-ditch effort for anyone who still manages to draw breath.

In Raccoon City, filled as it was with mutants and Tyrants, only someone extremely fortunate and skilled in combat could hope to survive the terrible chaos. The situation was dangerous for everyone, and even though survivors tried their best, the city eventually crumbled under the weight of countless zombies.

2. Resident Evil 4

Leon Was The Only One Standing In The Way Of Saddler’s Dangerous Plan

In Resident Evil 4, the tension is already high from the start, but it escalates significantly when Leon Kennedy starts to understand the real intentions of Saddler. After saving Ashley, it’s revealed that the president’s daughter has been infected with Las Plagas. Saddler then confesses his plan: to send her back to America, where she will spread infection among the higher-ups in government, causing havoc and chaos not only in America but also globally.

As the plague spreads and mutates, Saddler gains dominion over Ashley, a control he exploits to recapture her numerous times. With Leon compelled to eliminate hordes of monsters in order to find her, all while being infected himself, it’s clear that if Leon had fallen under Saddler’s influence or abandoned his mission, the situation would have spiraled out of control.

1. Resident Evil 5

Wesker Was Moments Away From Infecting The Entire World With Uroboros

It takes until halfway through the story of Resident Evil 5 for Chris and Sheva to discover the true intentions of Tricell, particularly Albert Wesker. Wesker, who thinks the world is weak and frail, loads a jet carrier with Uroboros parasites, nearly releasing them worldwide – unless Chris and Sheva had intervened to prevent him.

With his plane soaring overhead, ready for action, Wesker was mere seconds from executing his mad scheme, a move that could have devastated the planet by annihilating most of its inhabitants. Fortunately, Chris and Sheva managed to hop aboard Wesker’s aircraft; it’s chilling to imagine how different our world would be if they hadn’t intervened, preventing Wesker from achieving godlike power.
