In the grand finale of “One Piece,” it’s no secret that fans are bracing themselves for a rollercoaster ride filled with unexpected twists and turns. This final chapter is undeniably the crux of the series, and it’s evident that Eiichiro Oda has been saving his best for last, as he’s hinted at numerous times in the past. So, buckle up because this saga promises to be the most jaw-dropping yet, and fans are more than ready for the ride ahead.

Regarding Buggy, Oda appears to be preparing an incredibly surprising portrayal, and when it’s unveiled, readers may find themselves utterly astonished. Buggy is a vibrant and enigmatic character who harbors some of the most significant mysteries of the world. Though he often serves comedic purposes in the narrative, Buggy is much more than a mere joke, and his true worth will become evident in the concluding part of the story, where we’ll learn about his ties to the Roger Pirates, his hidden past, and his true identity – revelations that have long been kept under wraps.

Why Buggy’s True Identity Is Hidden

Strong Evidence Suggests Buggy Is Hiding His True Name

One of the central characters in One Piece, Buggy, has been crucial since the series’ beginning. He was Luffy’s first significant challenge on his pirate voyage, and his importance increased when it was revealed that he had ties to Shanks, making them almost sworn brothers. What makes Buggy even more fascinating is that, like Shanks, he once sailed with the Roger Pirates for many years. Fans anticipate that Buggy’s story will unfold further, as his connections run deep and have significant implications in the series, much like they have done so far.

During the Impel Down arc, he gained significance through a stroke of good fortune, earning the title of savior. Similarly, during the Paramount War arc, he matched wits with Whitebeard, according to his followers. His importance grew, leading to an offer of the Shichibukai position. Two years later, when the Shichibukai system ended, Buggy was elevated to a Yonko. Time and again, fortune seems to favor him, and it appears that the author has grand designs for him in the narrative.

Regarding who he truly is, many fans might overlook the red-nosed clown character, but there are indeed subtle hints that indicate Buggy may be more than just a simple clown named Buggy. In fact, it appears that his real name remains unknown, which strongly implies that Buggy is actually a deep, complex character as well.

In 2019, there was a collaboration between One Piece and Made in World. They produced a unique T-shirt featuring the character Buggy from One Piece, which came with this description:

His real name and true face are still unknown, making him a character shrouded in mystery.

In this official collaboration, it’s been revealed that One Piece character Buggy might not be presenting his true self. It’s not just the cover of chapter 1095 that hints at this; fans noticed Oda drawing a monkey steak with Buggy’s distinctive red nose. However, many believe this red nose to be Buggy’s own feature. But upon closer inspection, it appears that his real nose is concealed and his face is painted over, implying that the public perception of Buggy’s identity might not align with reality.

Buggy’s Mysterious Past And Connection To God Valley

Buggy was Born 39 Years Ago

In the world of One Piece, it’s well-known among fans that events from approximately 40 years ago, specifically the God Valley Incident, significantly impacted every major figure at that time. This pivotal event occurred 38 years ago and marked the demise of the Rocks Pirates, while the Roger Pirates also played a crucial role. It’s also common knowledge among fans that both the Marines and the God’s Knights were involved in these events.

It’s been long since we’ve had kids onboard, right Rayleigh? — Roger

As an avid fan, I can’t stress enough how crucial it is to remember that Buggy and Shanks have always been in sync, like two pieces of a puzzle. For years, we skeptics doubted the connection between Shanks and the God Valley Incident, but eventually, it was unveiled that he was, indeed, associated with it.

The Knights of the Gods, including Saint Garling Figarland, were present on God Valley, accompanied by his twin offspring – Shamrock Figarland and our beloved Shanks (or at least his original name as we now know it). During their time on God Valley, these two were unfortunately separated. It was here that the Roger Pirates, in a mix-up, took Shanks who was hidden inside a treasure chest, along with them to the Oro Jackson. Since then, Shanks has been under the care of Captain Roger’s crew.

It’s well-known among fans that Shanks and Buggy grew up together on Oro Jackson and were practically brothers. Interestingly enough, they are both 39 years old. Roger himself stated that there hadn’t been any kids on the Oro Jackson for a while before Oden brought Hiyori and Momonosuke on board after the switch. This implies that Shanks and Buggy were once the only children onboard, as confirmed by Roger using the term “kids”. So, since we know Shanks is from God Valley, where was Buggy raised? The answer is also God Valley. Just like Shanks, who was taken from an enemy, so too was Buggy.

Buggy Could Be The Son Of Rocks D. Xebec

The Son Of Rocks D. Xebec Could’ve Been Taken

Just prior to the God Valley Incident, it was revealed to fans that a valuable item had been stolen from Pirate Island, the stronghold of Rocks D. Xebec. In an attempt to recover this item (which could have been anything from treasure to even a child), the Rocks Pirates embarked on their journey. However, the nature of the stolen item remains unclear. Rocks eventually reached God Valley and perished there. Garling participated in the God Valley battle and suffered defeat. Shanks was captured by the Roger Pirates, while Buggy was seized by someone else, possibly Garp. To conceal his identity and avoid execution, it’s likely that Garp passed on Buggy to Roger, just as Roger had given Ace to him for safekeeping.

It’s quite plausible that Buggy grew up alongside Shanks, with his background remaining a mystery. Given his D lineage, it’s certain that Buggy shares some traits with Rocks, and his true identity, including his real name and appearance, which resemble Rocks, is yet to be disclosed. Let’s hope Oda sheds light on this soon!
