On March 11th, Blizzard unveiled a brief teaser, announcing that their traditional event, BlizzCon, is set to make a comeback as a physical gathering. But, eager Blizzard enthusiasts will need to exercise patience, as the company has scheduled the next BlizzCon for September 2026 at the Anaheim Convention Center, marking a shift from previous occurrences.

Initially organized in 2005 post the release of “World of Warcraft”, BlizzCon serves as a gathering for enthusiasts of the “Warcraft”, “StarCraft”, “Diablo”, and “Overwatch” game franchises. This event is where Blizzard Entertainment unveils new games, expansions, or updates within these series. During the 2023 BlizzCon’s opening ceremony, the highly anticipated titles such as “Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred” and “World of Warcraft’s Worldsoul Saga”, specifically “The War Within” expansion, were unveiled. The Worldsoul Saga is set to progress with two additional “World of Warcraft” expansions: “Midnight” and “The Last Titan”. These expansions are scheduled for release over the ensuing years.

Despite cancelling BlizzCon in 2024 and 2025 because game development needed their full attention, fans of this popular event have a reason to rejoice soon. Blizzard officially announced that BlizzCon will take place on September 12 and 13, 2026, at the Anaheim Convention Center in California. This year’s convention will differ from previous ones as it will be held in September instead of August, October, or November, which were the usual months for in-person events.

When Is BlizzCon Coming Back?

In celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Warcraft franchise, Blizzard plans to organize six global Warcraft-themed gatherings during the first half of 2025. The initial series of events were held in London and Seoul on February 22 and March 8, respectively, with a Toronto event scheduled for March 15.

Regarding potential revelations at BlizzCon 2026, it appears plausible that the conclusion of the ongoing Worldsoul Saga for World of Warcraft and other unexpected announcements may be unveiled. We’ll have to wait for more information from Blizzard about BlizzCon details in the approaching months.
