Summary
- The Order, a group of elite hitmen, is oddly supportive of Sakamoto despite his departure.
- Sakamoto left the Order due to love, throwing away his former life to run a convenience store.
- The Order and Sakamoto may share aligned interests in eliminating threats, fostering a surprising friendship.
Taro Sakamoto, previously known as a formidable assassin in “Sakamoto Days,” surprisingly abandons his secretive organization to establish a convenience store instead. In many realms, departing from a criminal group would typically lead to one’s demise; however, the Order surprisingly shows no concern over Taro’s departure.
Despite the colossal reward on his head, it’s apparent that the Order has no intention of eliminating Sakamoto. Delving deeper into Sakamoto’s past and the present dynamics of this organization, I’m beginning to grasp the reasons behind their inaction.
The Order: Sakamoto Days’ Ultimate Killers
In the world of Sakamoto Days, many view the Order as merely a myth used to control wayward assassins. However, as a former member, Sakamoto has firsthand knowledge that it does indeed exist. Essentially, the Order is an elite group of extremely powerful hitmen, representing the cream of the crop from the Japanese Association of Assassins. According to Sakamoto, one member of the Order could wipe out ten of Shin Asakura, his trusty assistant, in a mere six seconds.
The function of the Order appears to be preserving order in Japan’s specialized realm of assassination, supervised by the JAA. This might be the initial hint explaining why the Order shows more favoritism towards Sakamoto compared to typical assassins.
Why Taro Sakomoto Left The Order

In the beginning of “Sakamoto Days”, the motive for Taro abandoning his career as an assassin is humorously straightforward: he left because he fell in love, exiting before circumstances forced him back. The narrative presents Sakamoto’s departure as abrupt and uncomplicated, but it seems likely that this is an exaggeration. It’s known that Sakamoto was dating Aoi while working as a hitman (presumably still part of the Order), and Aoi eventually demanded he quit his assassin job or end their relationship. Other than these details, we don’t know much else. Before leaving his past behind, Taro symbolically discarded his weapons and explosives to be with Aoi, ultimately leading to marriage, parenthood, and managing a convenience store.
It’s also worth noting that Sakamoto had been a member of the Order for quite some time, forming connections within the group. On numerous occasions, he undertook missions alongside other Order members. Based on his post-retirement interactions with these colleagues, it’s evident that Sakamoto has maintained good relations with them. Given the longstanding friendships within the Order, it seems unlikely that his sudden retirement was entirely unexpected. Therefore, it could be speculated that the series may have exaggerated the suddenness of his departure.
Could the Order and Sakamoto Be on the Same Side?
From my perspective, it’s quite intriguing to observe the affable nature of the Order towards Sakamoto, given our understanding of the situation. On a professional level, yes, JAA has placed a bounty on Sakamoto, and the Order is associated with such tasks. Yet, countless other assassins could be after that bounty. However, it’s the personal connections, the unspoken bonds perhaps, that seem to set Sakamoto apart in their eyes. This, I believe, adds a unique twist to this intricate web of relationships within our world.
The primary role of this secretive organization is to maintain order within the clandestine world of assassinations, and they appear to be generously compensated for their services – Sakamoto even acquired a convenience store as a result. These individuals aren’t motivated by money; instead, they are relentlessly pursuing the assassin known as Slur. On a more personal note, it’s reasonable to assume that many members of this organization share close bonds with Sakamoto, having worked together in secret for extended periods, forming strong friendships along the way. Given their rarity and clandestine nature, the organization remains largely unknown to most.
To tell you the truth, despite our different paths, Sakamoto and I share a common goal. The Order aims to eradicate Slur and restore order in the assassination world under JAA, while my heart yearns for a drama-free life so I can focus on my passion – running a konbini. As long as we’re working towards the same objective, it just makes sense to keep our bond strong.
