- Alongside the level, Astro Bot players have 1 additional cameo appearance to rescue in the Armored Hardcore level.
In an exciting development, Team Asobi introduces a fresh update for the game “Astro Bot,” including the concluding stage and a special appearance from the anticipated Vicious Void Galaxy DLC expansion. This year has seen the game maintain its popularity, having been one of the unexpected standouts from 2024. Not only has “Astro Bot” garnered numerous industry awards and ‘Game of the Year’ accolades, but it continues to entice players with additional DLC levels.
After unveiling a series of speedrun-style downloadable content (DLC) stages for the game, fans were curious if Team Asobi had further plans. Following the launch of a large holiday stage and hinting at an unpublished level at the PlayStation XP Tournament Final in London, Team Asobi officially announced a second batch of DLC levels for Astro Bot. Unlike the initial DLC, this set will primarily emphasize platforming and introduce a time attack mode with online rankings upon completion for the first time.
The DLC levels for Vicious Void Galaxy, initially announced in February, have now been fully released as part of Update 1.016. The game has introduced a fresh level named Armored Hardcore, centered around the Iron Suit ability of Astro Bot. Alongside this platform-centric new level, players will encounter a new bot character to save and can acquire a new Trophy titled Rolling Rescue, expanding their collection.
Astro Bot Armored Hardcore Cameo Character
Many players enjoyed uncovering the robots inspired by famous cameos in Astro Bot, and luckily, this feature carries over to the DLC levels. Armored Hardcore is no exception. The Vicious Void Galaxy DLC has introduced characters like Jade from Beyond Good & Evil and Heihachi Mishima from Tekken, among others. Inside Armored Hardcore, players can save Ezio Auditore, a master assassin representing Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed franchise.
It’s unclear what lies ahead for Astro Bot, as the developers at Team Asobi haven’t disclosed any plans beyond this DLC expansion pack. Given the game’s success, it’s reasonable to speculate that more content might be coming, but for now, there’s no official word on it. What has been made public is Sony’s enthusiasm for Astro Bot and its success. In fact, Sony has announced they are developing more games similar to Astro Bot, adding to their collection of family-friendly titles.
