Xbox Copilot For Gaming Announced As The “Ultimate Gaming Sidekick”

As a passionate gamer, I’m excited about the new addition to my gaming arsenal – Xbox Copilot for Gamers! This innovative tool is designed to be my ultimate gaming companion, helping me level up my gaming experience like never before.

On the Xbox Podcast, the Corporate Vice President of Gaming AI at Xbox, Fatima Kardar, publicly introduced an AI-driven tool to the global audience. This groundbreaking news was further elaborated in a comprehensive article on Xbox Wire.

According to Jeff Rubenstein, the director of Xbox editorial, this AI-assistant is crafted as a personalized gaming buddy that swiftly guides you towards your preferred games, offers tips for skill enhancement, and fosters stronger ties with your gaming friends and communities. In essence, “Copilot for Gaming” will be readily available to assist when needed, yet it respects your space when not required.

During the podcast, an illustrative example of the new tool’s functionality was demonstrated using Minecraft. Within the game, a player collected wood and then encountered a query like “Alright, I have some wood here. What should I do with it?” The AI for Gaming responded by instructing on how to transform the gathered oak logs into wooden planks.

In another scenario, a player requested assistance from the tool regarding their hero choice, as Echo – the character they preferred – had already been chosen by someone else in Overwatch.

As the suggested character, I’d say: “Echo’s gone, but Cassidy could be a smart choice for our team. His mid-range hitscan and Mercy’s damage boost synergize well on Ilios Ruins. In fact, I’ve performed quite well with him on this map previously.

Following the player’s demise within the game, Copilot clarifies that this occurred due to prolonged engagement in combat, advising them to reunite with their team when they find themselves in a similar predicament next time.

The tool provides real-time, game-specific guidance tailored to your current situation, as mentioned by Microsoft.

During the podcast, everything displayed was demonstration concepts rather than actual gameplay. For members of the Xbox Insider Program, the launch of Copilot for Gaming on mobile devices is imminent, starting in a phased rollout, which we refer to as “soon”. The expansion to other devices and eventually to the public at large will occur progressively, or in gradual steps.
