The game Rainbow Six Siege has announced a fresh 6v6 mode, enhancements to core gameplay mechanics, and more exciting features coming with its upcoming major content release. This seasonal update, named Rainbow Six Siege X, is aiming for a launch in late spring of 2025.
As a passionate fan, I’ve been eagerly anticipating some major overhauls for Rainbow Six Siege ever since Ubisoft started dropping hints back in February 2025. Finally, on March 13, they unveiled their short-term strategies for the game, presenting it as Rainbow Six Siege X – touted as the most groundbreaking update in the history of this 2015 tactical shooter.
In the forthcoming update, a fresh game mode called Dual Front is set to take center stage. Instead of the traditional 5v5 match-ups, this mode will feature two teams composed of six operators squaring off against each other. Each team can pick from a selection of 35 operators from the popular game “Rainbow Six Siege”, with the available operators rotating every season. The Dual Front mode will challenge both teams to carry out offensive and defensive operations, sometimes simultaneously. This is the first time in “Rainbow Six Siege” history that players can have Attackers and Defenders on the same team. This new feature opens up exciting possibilities for collaboration and strategic planning.
Rainbow Six Siege X Beta Now Available
If you’re excited about the upcoming release of the new mode, why not give it a spin early? You can join the beta for Rainbow Six Siege X by tuning into Twitch and watching approximately half an hour of content. Once you’ve reached the required watchtime, you can claim your beta access from Twitch’s inventory. The beta is currently live on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC, and Ubisoft will be running tests until March 19.
A significant update in Rainbow Six Siege X includes a comprehensive revamp of its audio systems, focusing on sound management such as reverberation and propagation. Ubisoft asserts that this enhancement will empower players to gain more precise information about enemy operators’ locations and actions through listening alone. Moreover, the rappelling navigation system is set for a substantial overhaul, facilitating smoother movement. With the new setup, players can sprint horizontally while rappeling and even navigate corners when rappelling.
The freshly unveiled update is set to become available on PCs and gaming consoles starting from June 10th. This day signifies the beginning of Season 2 for Year 10 of “Rainbow Six Siege”, which also includes a transition to free-to-play, although with certain limitations. The modes Quick Play, Unranked, and the upcoming Dual Front will be accessible for everyone in the free version, whereas Siege Cup and Ranked will remain exclusive to paid players.
