Get Ready for Retro Fun: New Game Channels Serious GBA Nostalgia!

Enthusiasts of old-school gaming have a fresh title to anticipate that carries a strong Game Boy Advance (GBA) ambiance: “Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo“. Retro gaming encompasses a broad timeframe, spanning from the initial video games to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 epoch. However, when people envision retro, they often conjure up images of pixels, vibrant hues, and digitally produced sound. The forthcoming game “Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo” from Pocket Trap aligns perfectly with that image.

The 2D side-scrolling game titled “Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo” aspires to be known as the pioneer of Yoyovania. As you navigate through a city divided into four unique districts, each ruled by a notorious crime lord, your character’s primary tool is a yoyo, which serves both as a weapon and a helpful navigation aid. Mastering clever new moves during gameplay will empower Pippit, the protagonist, to access hard-to-reach locations, surmount obstacles, and crack puzzles.

On May 28, 2025, Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo is set to launch for computers (PC), Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Pre-orders are currently being accepted, and a demo is available for early birds. If you want the physical game, you’ll need the Collector’s Edition, which includes a Pippit plushie. However, it’s not yet certain if there will be an Xbox or PC version of the Collector’s Edition, as only images of the PS5 and Switch boxes have been released.
