As a dedicated gamer, I’m thrilled to share that Nexon has dropped the Season 2, Episode 2 update, titled “Beyond The Void,” for my favorite game, “The First Descendant.” This massive update brings a heap of fresh content, such as a new main storyline, a brand-new Descendant named Serena, an innovative growth system, and much more.

What’s even more exciting is the introduction of a new Fellow and a host of events that players like me can jump into. Can’t wait to explore this new chapter!

In 2024, The First Descendant was introduced, but despite frequent content updates and assistance, it hasn’t managed to boost its “mixed” rating on Steam significantly. This free-to-play third-person shooter with loot elements has received backlash over its intense microtransaction system, with some users calling it an unoriginal copy. However, the game has still garnered some popularity and retains a loyal player community. Now, the creators are releasing a significant upgrade for players to enjoy.

Moving forward, Nexon remains committed to The First Descendant, and they are now introducing “Beyond The Void” for players – an update brimming with fresh content. The main attraction of the Season 2, Episode 2 update is a new primary storyline that unfolds post-destruction of the Ironheart in the Fortress region. Throughout this mission, players will meet Serena, a newly introduced Descendant who will join their forces. Nexon assures us that Episode 2 will deepen the lore with compelling cinematic storytelling.

In the game The First Descendant, Serena is a unique DPS character who can battle enemies while soaring through the skies. She offers an intriguing blend of abilities, with her fire-based skills such as Scared Flame, and utility skills like Redemption that clear debuffs, provide damage reduction, restore HP and stamina for allies. Alongside Serena’s introduction, the latest update presents a fresh area called Sigma Sector, featuring two brand new multiplayer zones. Players can challenge these areas in Normal or High-Risk modes.

Additionally, a novel growth mechanism called Arche Tuning system has been implemented, allowing players to fine-tune their Descendants’ attributes. To accumulate EXP in this new setup, players must engage in challenging Infiltration Operations at 400% level, Void Vessel on Hard difficulty, Void Erosion Purge, and Sigma Sector.

In the latest update, Beyond The Void, players now have a fresh ally – the Vespers Hunting Dog, a newly introduced Fellow. Notable characteristics of this Retriever include an automatic loop function, ammunition replenishment, and additional features. Additionally, the Fellow Hagios Sheepdog has been fine-tuned in this update, with new weapons added, an upgraded photo mode, and more enhancements. The First Descendant update, Season 2, Episode 2 is now active, allowing players to download and test out all the exciting new content that Nexon has introduced in the game.

    • Descendants encounter ‘Serena,’ an early-generation Descendant sealed within the Sigma Sector, and join forces to confront this secret weapon.
    • This chapter will further deepen the relationships between Descendants and enrich the lore, enhanced by powerful cinematic storytelling.
  • New Descendant – Serena
    • Serena’s trailer was revealed for the first time during the livestream broadcast last week, which you can view here.
    • Serena is one of the early-generation Descendants who had been sealed
    • She awakens as the current Descendants launch their operation in the Sigma Sector.
    • Serena is a firearm-based DPS wielding powerful fire-element skills, striking enemies while soaring through the skies.
      • Skills
        • Passive Skill: Divinity
          • When Serena fires a gun in midair, an additional stat bonus is applied.
        • Active Skill #1: Sacred Flame
          • Fires flames forward.
          • Enemies hit by the skill enter the ‘Repentance’ state, and attacking ‘Repentance’ enemies has a chance to restore ammo.
          • When used on allies, grants a ‘Blessing’ buff that provides a healing effect.
        • Active Skill #2: Ascension
          • Significantly reduces gravity, allowing for extended airtime.
          • When firing a gun in midair, additional effects are triggered based on the type of ammunition used.
        • Active Skill #3: Soaring
          • When used on the ground, propels the user vertically upward.
          • When used mid-air, moves in the input direction; holding the button extends the travel distance.
          • Deals AoE damage while moving, but is primarily used for aerial evasion and firearm reloading.
        • Active Skill #4: Redemption
          • When used on the ground, removes debuffs from allies and the user while granting damage reduction, HP recovery, and stamina restoration buffs.
          • When used in mid-air, enhances firearm performance.
  • New Field – Sigma Sector
    • Two new matchmaking-supported fields: “Broken Boundary” and “Isolated Desert.”
    • These fields are divided into Normal and High-Risk difficulties based on storm level, providing a challenge that ignites players’ competitive spirit.

    • New monsters, including the Immortality Obliviant, the Obliviant Commander and Karel’s First Descendant will also be introduced to enhance the combat experience.
  • New Void Abyss Intercept Battle Colossus – Tormentor
    • A variant colossus of the Executioner.
    • Uses electric-based attacks and is vulnerable to poison.
    • Enters ‘Void Reflux Mode,’ summoning ‘Thunderstorm’ that moves across the map.
  • New Growth System – Arche Tuning System
    • Arche Tuning System does not define the Descendant’s personality; rather, it is a progression system designed to refine and optimize builds.
    • Arche Tuning EXP can be obtained from Infiltration Operations at 400% difficulty, Void Vessel Hard Difficulty, Void Erosion Purge, Sigma Sector.
    • Will be added to Special Operations in future updates.
    • Obtainable upon completing the “Beyond the Void” main quest.
    • Can level up Unique Arche Factor Level to 40 using exclusive EXP

    • Daily Event – ‘‘Assist with Serena’s Covert Operations’ / Starting March 13th
      • Complete daily challenge missions to earn Support Tokens, which can be exchanged for various items in the shop.
      • Play for 120 minutes each day to receive one Crystallization Catalyst daily.
    • Additional Event: Two weeks before the Ultimate Blair update, a login event will be held where players can obtain an item(Photon Imprinter) to transfer a regular Descendant module socket type to an Ultimate Descendant.
