How To Download Rosters In MLB The Show 25

MLB The Show 25 begins the year with a default roster based on how the league looks before Opening Day, but you also have the option of downloading rosters at any time. The live roster gets updated throughout the year, but there are also custom rosters created and uploaded by other players.

If you don’t feel the ratings or current setup of your default MLB The Show 25 roster feels right, it might be time to try a custom roster. This guide will outline how you can download rosters in MLB The Show 25, which modes they can be used for, and how to load them when creating a new save.

How To Download Rosters in MLB The Show 25

If you just want to download the most recently updated live roster, that can be done via Roster Control. At the top of the main menu in MLB The Show 25, look for a paintbrush icon with “Create” underneath it. Choose Roster Control, then go to Save Roster. If you choose Save and Load Live Roster, that will download and activate the live roster.

The live roster is updated throughout the MLB season based on what is actually happening in the real-world league. Player rating adjustments based on performance, player movement due to trades, and even position changes will all be updated via the live roster.

Activating the live roster this way will replace your current roster. If you’ve made any changes that you don’t wish to lose, including the creation of new players and their team placement, choose “Save Custom Roster” first so you have the option to reload your current roster at a later time.

How To Download Custom Rosters In MLB The Show 25

If you would rather try out a custom roster in MLB The Show 25, they can be downloaded from the Vaults. From the same Create icon on the main menu, choose Vaults and press RB or R1 once loaded to switch to the roster vault. Press X or Square from the roster vault to refine your search.

You can search for rosters by keyword, Online ID to locate all rosters uploaded by a specific creator, and roster type. It’s also a good idea to sort by downloads or rating, as the top options in both categories are usually quality rosters. Once you see one you want, press A or X to select and then download that MLB The Show 25 roster.

How To Use Custom Rosters in MLB The Show 25

Once you’ve acquired a custom roster you want to use in MLB The Show 25, it has to be properly loaded and activated. If you want to set a downloaded roster as the current roster, replacing the default or existing roster in your game, select the Settings icon (next to Create on the main menu) and then select File Management. Don’t forget to save your current roster if you want to preserve any changes before replacing it.

From the File Management screen, select Load then Rosters and pick the one you want to activate. You can also activate live rosters here or reset the game to default rosters if you’re not happy with the custom roster you’ve been using. The roster set here will become your Current Roster when creating new Franchise Mode or Road to the Show saves, and it will be used for any Exhibition games played in MLB The Show 25.

If you want to use something other than your Current Roster in Franchise or RTTS, that will have to be chosen at save creation. Road to the Show will default to your currently active roster when making a new save, but you can select the settings icon below “Start Career” when choosing whether to create a male or female ballplayer. From there you can load a custom roster or choose to use the default start of season roster.

When starting a new Franchise Mode save, it will automatically offer you a Roster Selection choice. You can pick Load Saved Rosters and select the custom roster you intend to use for that save. With the right roster in place, your MLB The Show 25 journey can keep on rolling.
