Monster Hunter Wilds challenges players to face off against various monsters, both old and new. While fighting a monster may be thrilling, one of the greatest reliefs is once that monster has finally been bested for good, and the Mission Complete screen shows.
Out of all the available monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds, these are the few monsters that are by far the most satisfying to beat, be it due to nostalgia from fighting them in previous games in the Monster Hunter franchise, or due to the sheer challenge they create to battle them in Monster Hunter Wilds.
This list contains spoilers!
8. Gypceros
Putting An End To Being Flashed
Gypceros is arguably one of the oldest monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds, with its debut being in the original Monster Hunter. While some players may find this monster to be quite satisfying to beat due to this nostalgic feeling of facing it again, others may feel differently.
Gypceros has one of the most annoying attacks in Monster Hunter Wilds, as the crescent on its head is used to blind attacks so that it can make its escape. While fighting this supposedly timid monster, Gypceros will use this attack constantly, stunning the player in place. Combining this with its jump and tail whip attacks means once this foe has finally fallen, many players are incredibly satisfied to see it has ended.
7. Rey Dau
The First Apex Predator The Players Defeat
Monster Hunter Wilds introduced the concept of Apex Predators to the various biomes the player explores throughout the story. These are the main monsters of that area, which are far more of a challenge than the others and only appear during a certain event in the biome.
Rey Day deserves a place for being one of the most satisfying monsters a player beats due to it being the first Apex Predator the player encounters. Defeating the Bright Thunder Wyvern in the middle of a sandstorm is not only an epic battle but also a great relief once this giant predator has fallen.
6. Nu Udra
So Many Ways To Severe And Then Defeat It
The sixth generation of Monster Hunter introduced players to an entirely brand-new type of monster known as Cephalopods. These eight-legged monsters that resemble an octopus are usually at the top of the food chain in Monster Hunter Wilds, with Nu Udra, the Apex Predator of the Oilwell Basin, being no different.
Udra exhibits surprising agility as it darts around, making it challenging to attack effectively. However, chopping off each of its tentacles provides a sense of accomplishment. The real thrill comes when Udra is completely vanquished, providing the player with a well-deserved break.
5. Rathalos
Defeating A Nostalgic Monster Again
One of the classic monsters from the first generation of Monster Hunter games is Rathalos, which has appeared in various other Monster Hunter titles such as Monster Hunter Wilds.
With Rathalos appearing more commonly than Gypceros, this is another monster that is satisfying to beat due to the nostalgia of facing it. Players can test if their skills have improved since facing the King of the Skies in the past, as well as feel good about themselves when the king falls from the sky after a possible stressful battle.
4. Gore Magala
A Chaotic Demi Elder Filled With Frenzy
Demi Elders can be just as horrifying as a regular elder dragon, especially if it’s a monster like Gore Magala, who has been considered one of the most aggressive monsters in the Monster Hunter franchise.
With players only encountering this creature once they have unlocked the high ranks of Monster Hunter Wilds, it’s no surprise that players find it to be so satisfying to put an end to Gore Magala. Even without Gore Magala being a fully mature Elder Dragon, the frenzy caused by this monster makes him one of the hardest in the game, which only adds to the relief of defeating it once it is finally beaten.
3. Zoh Shia
The Final Boss Of Monster Hunter Wilds
Although Zoh Shia doesn’t make much of an appearance in Monster Hunter Wilds as the final main boss of the main story in the game, this is still one of the most satisfying monsters to beat in the game. Everything the player has done throughout the story of Monster Hunter Wilds has led up to this point, which includes one of the most epic cutscenes in the game.
Finally, putting an end to the weapon that was created by the past civilization of Wyveria is such a great relief not only from a story point of view but also due to the chaotic fight within its Dragontorch Shrine arena that sees the player dodge out of the way of various attacks.
2. Jin Dahaad
Defeating The Largest Monster In The Game
Despite facing monsters tougher than Jin Dahaad, given its status as the largest monster in “Monster Hunter Wilds,” it’s not surprising that it is also one of the most rewarding to defeat. Watching this massive creature succumb to defeat is quite a spectacle.
Jin Dahaad can also be quite a challenge, requiring the player to need the aid of others to put an end to it, which makes seeing the mission complete on screen that much more satisfying, especially when considering the heat-sink attack Jin does where he can entirely wipe out a monster hunter with an explosion.
1. Arkveld
Putting An End To Its Rampage
It’s no wonder that Arkveld, prominently featured on the cover of Monster Hunter Wilds, proves to be the most rewarding monster to conquer in this game. After all, Arkveld is the elusive beast that players chase through every biome within Monster Hunter Wilds, so it’s only natural that battling Arkveld ranks among the toughest challenges.
Fighting Arkveld for the first time is one of the most emotional moments in the sixth generation of the franchise, as players put an end to the rampage caused by Arkveld. Its attacks are just as chaotic as its story, with players jumping out of the way of explosions which they are relieved to see the end of once Arkveld has finally ended.
