Bad Guitar Studio has released a new patch for its 5v5 hero shooter, FragPunk, addressing performance improvements, balance adjustments, and fixing several bugs. The introduction of this hotfix update won’t interrupt FragPunk players’ experience, though Bad Guitar Studio warns of potential temporary matchmaking issues and apologizes in advance.

FragPunk had a popular beta phase, with players praising many aspects of the 5v5 hero shooter. However, right after its full release, fans were frustrated by the heavy monetization system, with players complaining about its 9 currencies, multiple memberships, and the challenge it posed for players who didn’t pay when trying to unlock a new character. Nevertheless, the game turned things around, and now FragPunk has a very positive rating on Steam reviews. Now, the developer is rolling out a patch to address several issues with the game.

The hotfix tackles an issue related to movement—a major complaint among FragPunk players, who felt the game was much slower than the beta version, with some even calling the new gameplay “unplayable.” The patch increases the overall speed to cater to fans who enjoyed the game before, while also optimizing the audio effects of footsteps. Moreover, Bad Guitar Studio is adjusting weapons for better balance. The “Bad Moon-S” saw a damage increase, while the sound effects of the “Burner” were optimized to make them louder.

Additionally, balance adjustments have been made for FragPunk lancers, too, adjusting the detection range of one of Jaguar’s skills, the maximum blinding range of Corona’s “Hothead,” and optimizing the placement area for Nitro’s skill “The Wall.” The developer has also made Lancer Spider temporarily unavailable in Outbreak mode.

One of the standout features of FragPunk is its Shard Card system, which allows players to change the rules of gameplay, with more than 150 different options to alter the match and make the game more dynamic. The current patch increases the required points for several cards, including Death’s Embrace, Itchy Triggers, and Eagle Eyes, and reduces them for Painful Motivation and Infernal Hounds, aiming to introduce some balance in the way players implement them.

Apart from addressing various technical issues, Bad Guitar Studio has resolved visual glitches in certain character banners and a display problem in Spider’s skill. Players who were facing difficulties with club challenges will now be able to overcome them as a solution has been introduced. Meanwhile, FragPunk remains popular, reaching a maximum of 113,946 players. The developers are still striving to enhance the gaming experience further.
