A major Mortal Kombat 1 update has been released to go with the new T-1000 playable guest character. The liquid metal killer from Terminator 2: Judgment Day is the latest in a series of classic movie characters to come to Mortal Kombat 1, just after the masked Ghostface from Scream and Conan the Barbarian. Just like these previous Mortal Kombat 1 guest combatants, the T-1000 is being adapted faithfully from his source material, down to original actor Robert Patrick leading his voice and digital likeness.
Fans have already gotten to see some of the T-1000’s Mortal Kombat 1 fighting style, along with some gruesome fatalities directly inspired by Terminator 2. There are also a few references to some of Robert Patrick’s other roles, including the time he shared the screen with John Cena as Peacemaker’s father. Gamers won’t have to wait much longer to try out the dreaded T-1000 for themselves, as the robotic assassin is now available to those with Early Access. Everyone else will need to wait until the T-1000 Mortal Kombat 1 DLC launches in full on March 25.
Like all Mortal Kombat 1 guest characters before it, the T-1000 is being added as part of a major update patch that will not only introduce the new character, but also bring a host of adjustments for other combatants. This update will also add Madam Bo, the kind yet tough restaurant keeper from Mortal Kombat 1’s main story campaign, as a new Kameo fighter that can help deliver devastating combos. Some of her moves have already been revealed, such as her gruesomely amusing Kameo Fatality.
As for the rest of the existing Mortal Kombat 1 roster, the game’s latest update makes many attack adjustments for characters like Baraka, Johnny Cage, Kenshi, Kitana, Shang Tsung, and more. Some of the non-character fixes include an additional Ray Tracing Quality option that will optimize Mortal Kombat 1’s gameplay and graphics in the PC version of the game, along with improved stability and other valuable updates. The Nintendo Switch version of Mortal Kombat 1 is also seeing improvements to certain graphical textures.
It isn’t clear if Madam Bo and the T-1000 are the last new additions to Mortal Kombat 1’s character roster, as NetherRealm has yet to announce any further DLC characters for the game. In the meantime, a wave of character skins based on the upcoming Mortal Kombat 2 movie is coming in the future, offering up cinematic alternate looks for Johnny Cage, Shao Khan, and Katana.
