PlayStation fans have a new event to get excited about! Sony has announced another State of Play showcase is coming soon. These events usually share updates on games people are looking forward to, and sometimes include unexpected announcements. While surprises aren’t always part of the show, rumors suggest Sony has some exciting reveals planned this time.
It’s hard to say exactly which games will appear at the next Sony State of Play, but several titles are likely candidates. Along with the expected games, rumors and hopes for remakes have fans excited about potential summer announcements. Sony typically reveals new games during the summer months, and this State of Play – airing on June 2nd at 2 pm Pacific Time / 5 pm Eastern Time – is expected to continue that tradition.
These Games Being at Sony’s June State of Play Feels Like a Given
- Marvel’s Wolverine (CONFIRMED)
- Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls
- Marathon Season 2
- Kena: Scars of Kosmora
- Horizon Hunters Gathering
Five games seem most likely to appear during the upcoming State of Play presentation. Marvel’s Wolverine is a major PlayStation exclusive coming this year, and the developers, Insomniac, have already promised to show more of it. They recently announced a release window for Marvel’s Wolverine, and fans are hoping for a detailed look at gameplay. 2026 will bring two Marvel games, including a fighting game called Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls. With its release date set for August 6th, it’s reasonable to expect a new showing of this stylish fighter.

Many people are expecting big things from Marathon because its second season launches on June 2nd, coinciding with the State of Play event. This new season is a key moment for the game, which is an ‘extraction shooter.’ While Marathon hasn’t yet gained as much popularity as last year’s ARC Raiders, Bungie hopes this next chapter will attract more players.
Weeks of Rumors Could Finally Be Put to Rest With These Games
- God of War‘s Faye spin-off
- Infamous remake
- FromSoftware’s pirate game
For years, people have been speculating about the next God of War game. Recently, new rumors have surfaced suggesting the game might focus on Faye as the main character. These rumors also mention Tyr appearing in the story, and hint at the inclusion of mythologies from Japan and Mesoamerica. While these claims are currently unconfirmed, it would be a major reveal if Santa Monica Studio confirmed them at the upcoming State of Play event.
Gamers are excited about two new rumors. The first suggests a remake of the Infamous series is being developed, and the second hints at a brand new pirate game from FromSoftware. While FromSoftware is already working on The Duskbloods for Nintendo, a pirate game exclusive to Sony wouldn’t be unexpected. Sony previously published FromSoftware’s Demon’s Souls and Bloodborne, so a similar partnership is definitely possible – assuming the pirate game is actually in development.
These Games Being at June’s State of Play Might Be Pipe Dreams, But Nothing is Impossible
- Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet
- Uncharted 5
- Bloodborne remake
- Silent Hill 1 remake
Honestly, if I had to guess what’s going to be at the State of Play, I’m betting on Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. The only thing making me hesitate is something Kumail Nanjiani said recently. He’s in the game – he plays Colin Graves – and he mentioned it probably won’t be out until 2028 or even later. Now, he’s an actor, not necessarily someone with all the release date info, but he might have a general idea of when things are happening. If it’s really that far off, showing another trailer now seems a little premature. But hey, Nanjiani could be wrong! Maybe Naughty Dog is aiming for a 2027 release, which would make a new trailer at State of Play much more likely. We’ll just have to wait and see, I guess.
There’s been talk about Naughty Dog possibly developing Uncharted 5. According to industry insider Tom Henderson, work on the game may have started even before the COVID-19 pandemic. If that’s true, we might see an announcement at an upcoming event. However, fans shouldn’t get their hopes up too high.
It would be exciting to see Bloober Team remake the original Silent Hill, or even hear an announcement about a Bloodborne remake. Fans have been asking for a Bloodborne remake for years, but it seems unlikely. Reports suggest FromSoftware actually turned down a pitch for a remake by Bluepoint Games, so it probably won’t happen anytime soon. A teaser for a Silent Hill 1 remake feels much more realistic.
Xbox Could Have a Small Presence at This Sony-Focused Event
Xbox’s new management appears to be reconsidering previous decisions about keeping games exclusive to their platform. Before the recent leadership change, several titles were already confirmed to be coming to PlayStation 5. These include major Xbox franchises like Fable and Halo: Combat Evolved, which will be debuting on PS5. A port of Forza Horizon 6 is also planned for the PS5, even though it wasn’t initially available on the platform – a release date may be announced soon.
Xbox is having its own showcase on June 7.
It’s still unknown if Gears of War: E-Day will be released on PS5. After Gears of War: Reloaded came to PlayStation consoles for the first time last year, many fans hoped E-Day would follow. However, with Xbox reconsidering its plans, a PS5 version isn’t guaranteed.
