Atlanta FaZe has emerged as the dominant force in Call of Duty esports, leaving no challenge unconquered during Major II this weekend. The Call of Duty League was effectively controlled by FaZe over these past days, and their 4-0 victory against Vancouver Surge in the final match leaves no room for argument about their supremacy.
FaZe Clan has won three consecutive LAN tournaments in a row, including the Esports World Cup held in Riyadh. The team is playing exceptionally well and hasn’t achieved this level of success since 2016. To add to their impressive streak, they are currently on a 13-match winning streak in LAN maps as well.
Incredible.
FaZe Up
In this Major II tournament, Atlanta FaZe found it relatively easy as they were often victorious. I’ve nicknamed it ‘Sweep City Central’ because most matches ended with a 3-0 scoreline, with only a few exceptions and just one match reaching game five. Atlanta FaZe dominated significantly, defeating Minnesota Rokkr, Cloud9, and Vancouver Surge not once, but twice.
It was widely believed that an upset victory would occur, considering Toronto Ultra had managed one of the most remarkable lower bracket runs in Call of Duty esports. The Ultra team maintained a flawless performance with a 12-map winning streak until they faced Vancouver Surge and were defeated in the elimination finals.
In the final stage, FaZe’s triumph was nothing less than awe-inspiring. The team managed to attain that exceptional state of performance we’ve come to expect from them, leaving Vancouver Surge struggling to keep up, even with the inclusion of Neptune at the last minute. Apart from one round in Control, every map was dominated by FaZe, hardly giving Surge room to maneuver.
In a remarkable feat, Cellium set a new CDL finals Kill-Death (KD) record of 1.72. Meanwhile, Drazah not only added another championship to his collection but also provided more ammunition to silence his critics with his signature response to detractors.
Moving forward, our focus shifts to the upcoming Major III, set to take place from April 24th through the 27th in sunny Florida.
