PC gamers can currently download a free, DRM-free 2D platformer from 2022 called Mr. Brocco & Co. Against Fast Food (or simply Mr. Brocco & Co.). This offer won’t last forever, so be sure to grab it while you can!
Just so you know, this free game isn’t part of Steam’s usual free game offers, and you won’t find it on Steam. It’s being given away by IndieGala, an online store that frequently offers small indie games for a limited time – and that’s exactly what Mr. Brocco & Co. is. The great thing is, it doesn’t have any DRM (digital rights management), meaning you can download, copy, and back up the game files without needing any special software. Normally priced at $9.99, Mr.Brocco & Co is a 2D platformer with a retro look and feel. It combines classic arcade-style gameplay with a fun theme centered around food, and even subtly encourages healthy eating. Players can choose to play as Mr. Broccoli or Super Asparagus, exploring colorful worlds, running and jumping through side-scrolling levels, and battling enemies made of junk food. The developers at VICTORIA Games say the game is inspired by classic platformers like Super Mario, and while that influence is clear, Mr.Brocco & Co has a brighter, more cartoonish visual style.

The game Mr. Brocco & Co. has a very positive 90% rating on Steam, based on 21 reviews. Players generally like the game’s art style and core gameplay, but it does have some drawbacks. Some reviewers found it became repetitive quickly, lacked depth in its mechanics, and was quite short. A few also thought the educational elements weren’t very strong, even for younger players. While the $10 price tag might be a bit steep for what it offers, it’s currently available for free through Indie Gala, making it a worthwhile grab for fans of simple, retro-style platformers.
Besides Mr. Brocco and Co., IndieGala is offering other free games right now. VICTORIA Games has made all of their platforming games available, so if you like Mr. Brocco, you should also try Brave Little Cloud and Carlos the Taco. While they share similar gameplay, Mr. Brocco is the oldest game, meaning the later titles build upon and improve its original ideas.

These games aren’t for all players, but some people will definitely enjoy them. Brave Little Cloud is the most suitable for children, and while none of them are mature-rated, they’re all decent PC games you can get and play without spending any money.
