I’m trying to get all the Cluemaster Puzzles in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, and Newtown has eleven of them! Most of them are pretty easy and you can solve them with the characters you’ve already unlocked, but there’s one tricky puzzle that you absolutely need Batgirl to complete. It’s a bit of a roadblock if you haven’t unlocked her yet!
This guide is all about solving the Cluemaster Puzzles in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight. Once you activate a district tower, the puzzle locations will appear on the map. We’ll cover every puzzle in Newtown, including where to find it, which characters or abilities you need, and step-by-step solutions.

What You Need Before Solving Every Newtown Cluemaster Puzzle
You need to finish the first Cluemaster Puzzle Room in the main story mission, “Dynamic Duo,” before you can start solving the Cluemaster Puzzles. Once you’ve done that, you’ll have Batman, Robin, Catwoman, and Jim Gordon unlocked, letting you solve most of the puzzles in Newtown immediately.
Okay, so if you want to play as Batgirl in Gotham Water & Powerless, you’ll have to keep going with the story until she unlocks. If she’s not available yet, just come back to it later. You can find exactly when each character unlocks in my guide on unlocking all playable characters, and if you want to know more about her gadgets and how to upgrade them, I’ve got a guide for that too!

Cluemaster Puzzle Room Solution
- Coordinates: 394, 678
- Required Character: Robin
I finally cracked the Newtown Cluemaster Puzzle Room during the ‘Dynamic Duo’ mission! Good news is, because it’s part of the main story, I know I’ll finish it before I even think about tackling the other Cluemaster puzzles around Newtown. It’s one less thing to worry about!
If you’re struggling with this puzzle, here’s what you should do:
- In the first room, insert East tiles into both slots and press the red button. Then use the key to enter the second room.
- In the second room, insert an East tile into Slot 1, a North tile into Slot 2, a North tile into Slot 3, and a West tile into Slot 4. You’ll need to return to the first room for the West tile.
- In the third room, insert a North tile into Slot 1, an East tile into Slot 2, a North tile into Slot 3, an East tile into Slot 4, and an East tile into Slot 5. Press the red button to complete the puzzle room.
Additional Content Cluemaster Puzzle Solution
- Coordinates: 259, 669
- Required Character: Nightwing
First, put batteries into the two open slots. You’ll find one battery already in place, and you can get the other by breaking the numbered boxes in the corner.
After turning on the terminals, use Nightwing’s Cable Launcher to connect them all to the central electrical device. This will provide power to the board near the cube.
Now you need to aim for the targets on the board and connect the switch to the cube with a clear path. Once you’ve done that, activate the switch to finish the puzzle.
Projected Results Cluemaster Puzzle Solution
- Coordinates: 371, 704
- Required Character: Batman
First, use the Batclaw to activate the projector. Then, step onto the button to the right of it and stay there until the yellow shapes projected onto the board are about the same size as the outlines. Finally, use the wheel on the left side of the projector to rotate those shapes until they fit perfectly, solving the puzzle.
This puzzle is simpler to solve with a partner. One person can focus on the buttons, while the other manages the wheel.
Jiggery Pokery Cluemaster Puzzle Solution
- Coordinates: 389, 680
- Required Character: Any character
Find the three spotlights in the building opposite the cube. Use them to solve a jigsaw puzzle by shining each one on a missing piece: the left spotlight on the top row piece, the middle spotlight on the middle row piece, and the right spotlight on the bottom row piece. Use the ‘Change Lens’ control at the bottom of the screen to rotate the pieces until they fit.
Tumbling Down Cluemaster Puzzle Solution
- Coordinates: 354, 665
- Required Character: Any character
To solve this puzzle, you need to hit the red buttons until the tumblers stop and show the code 3-1-4-2. The posters below each tumbler will reveal the correct numbers. The symbols you see on the tumblers are just the digits 1, 2, 3, and 4, each shown with its mirror image.
Seeking Pour-pose Cluemaster Puzzle Solution
- Coordinates: 379, 658
- Required Ability: Any ranged projectile
Begin by tracing the vertical pipe on the right downwards until you reach a wheel. Rotate the wheel until the valve next to you turns green. This will activate the water flow to the puzzle.
Now we need to open the five pipes in the wall, letting water fill the containers underneath. However, water can only flow through each pipe one at a time.
Begin by making sure all the pipes are closed. Next, use a projectile – like an arrow or thrown weapon – to hit one of the targets. This will open a pipe and start filling its connected device. Hit the same target again to close that pipe. Repeat this process with the remaining four targets to complete the puzzle.
Smoke Show Cluemaster Puzzle Solution
- Coordinates: 367, 631
- Required Character: Any character
Use the puzzle to break the satellite dish on the roof, which will give you a lever. Then, place the lever into the machine opposite the cube. This will turn on three buttons and activate the tanks located above the cube.
The tanks will light up in a specific order, and you need to copy that order by pressing the buttons in the same sequence. Here’s the pattern I saw when I solved the puzzle – it took me three tries.
- Round 1: Left, left, middle
- Round 2: Middle, right, middle, right
- Round 3: Left, right, right, middle, left
Cog-nitive Theory Cluemaster Puzzle Solution
- Coordinates: 435, 648
- Required Character: Jim Gordon
To halt the spinning symbols, use Jim Gordon’s Foam Sprayer when the Pi symbol is facing straight up and all four beakers are aimed at it. When the symbols are in the correct position, they’ll turn green. If you need to reset and try again, you can use a Batarang to clear the foam.
Turning Points Cluemaster Puzzle Solution
- Coordinates: 404, 601
- Required Character: Any character
Pushing the red button connects the wall crank to a specific wheel. To solve the puzzle, turn each of the three wheels until the red ‘123’ symbol reappears on the wall. The symbols will glow red when you’ve aligned them correctly.
Wreck Center Cluemaster Puzzle Solution
- Coordinates: 412, 577
- Required Character: Robin
First, use Robin’s Cable Launcher to attach the wrecking ball to the spot directly above the bus. Next, get into a vehicle and connect its tow line to the wrecking ball. Finally, drive the vehicle to pull the wrecking ball and destroy the bus, which will uncover the cube.
Gotham Water & Powerless Cluemaster Puzzle Solution
- Coordinates: 493, 586
- Required Character: Batgirl
First, use Batgirl’s Drone to scan the symbols just around the corner from the cube. This will give you the code needed to start the elevator underneath the cube.
Take the elevator up three floors, then use Batgirl’s Hackarang on the yellow panel to your left. This will unlock the cage and let you grab the cube inside.
