One Piece Officially Unveils A New Legendary Character From Void Century

Chapter 1183 of One Piece was released on May 24th in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #26. Fans were especially excited for this new chapter, as the manga had a month of breaks beforehand. Now that the series is back, creator Eiichiro Oda is quickly raising the stakes and revealing more about the mysteries of the Void Century, a period from 800 years ago.

The recent Elbaf arc has revealed a lot more about the Void Century, particularly since Chapter 1179, released on April 6, 2026. The newest chapter of One Piece added to this backstory by introducing Douzan, a powerful figure from the distant past who fought against Nerona Imu.

One Piece Chapter 1183 Officially Introduced Douzan On May 24, 2026

The latest chapter of One Piece, chapter 1183, introduced some new mysteries, which is a trademark of the author, Eiichiro Oda. As a long-time reader of over 15 years, I always appreciate how Oda weaves new puzzles into the story and connects them to the history of the Void Century. This chapter did just that with a character named Douzan, who was mentioned by Nerona Imu during a fight between Loki and Ragnir. The chapter showed Loki as a powerful opponent, capable of facing the King of the World and withstanding his attacks. Loki has definitely proven his strength, and chapter 1183 further emphasized that.

During the fight, Loki unleashed a devastating attack called Raga-dual Heim on Nerona Imu. Imu countered with his own powerful move, Blade of Wrath: Gram, which was incredible to see, especially for those of us who follow the manga each week. As he used this attack, Imu declared that neither Nika nor Nidhoggr would ever yield to him. It seemed like he was speaking from personal knowledge, understanding that Nidhoggr would always resist his control. Ultimately, he decided to eliminate Loki immediately, removing a potential future threat.

Nerona Imu declares to Loki and Straw Hat Luffy, ‘You will not fight by my side! I will destroy you, just as I did Douzan!’

Nerona Imu has made it clear he intends to eliminate Loki, just as he did with Douzan – a newly introduced and fascinating character from the Void Century. This naturally raises questions about Douzan’s role in chapter 1183, and who he really was. However, by connecting the available clues, it shouldn’t be too hard to uncover his true identity.

The True Identity Of Douzan In The Void Century

Chapter 1183 of One Piece began with Imu discussing Ragnir needing a new leader after its previous one died. Imu then revealed that Loki, in his Nidhoggr form, won’t serve him as a soldier, implying the last Nidhoggr wasn’t under his control either. Combining these details, it seems Douzan was the previous Nidhoggr, likely living around 900 years ago during the Void Century. This Douzan was a powerful Warrior God of Elbaf who once fought Sun God Nika, though the details of that battle are still unknown.

According to chapter 1175 of One Piece, released on March 2, 2026, after the Warrior God of Elbaph died, the spirit of the ice squirrel Ratatoskr lived on inside the hammer Ragnir, also called Iron Lightning. Ragnir has been protecting the Devil Fruit of its former master ever since, anticipating their return. Considering this, it’s very likely that Douzan was the previous Warrior God of Elbaph. Chapter 1183 officially confirmed that Nerona Imu killed Douzan, which explains why Ragnir holds a grudge against Imu. The chapter begins with Imu revealing on page four that Ragnir had been waiting for someone capable of avenging Douzan, and this finally connects all the pieces.

Nerona Imu asked Ragnir, “You were expecting someone who could fight back against Mu, weren’t you?” (One Piece Chapter 1183)

Why Douzan Is Inherently Tied To Ragnir And Elbaph From The Past

It’s now clear that Douzan has a strong connection to both Ragnir and Elbaph. Chapter 1175 of One Piece revealed that Douzan and Ragnir were old friends and fought as a team. They even combined forces to battle the Sun God Nika. While the outcome of that fight remains a mystery, it’s evident that both Ragnir and Douzan, the Warrior God of Elbaph, were powerful enough to survive it.

I recently heard an amazing story from Elder Jarul. He told me about a powerful Warrior God from Elbaph, a figure from their legends. Apparently, this god carried a weapon called Ragnir-Iron Lightning and could actually transform into a massive dragon! The most surprising part? He wasn’t alone in his battles – he fought with a fiercely loyal ice squirrel named Ratatoskr by his side. It was quite a tale!

Douzan may be the most powerful figure ever to come from Elbaph. Considering he was revered like a god – similar to the Sun God Nika – it’s fitting that people worshipped him as a deity. This is supported by events in the Little Garden arc of One Piece, specifically chapter 119 (originally published January 17, 2000, in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 7), where Dorry and Brogy are shown paying homage to the Warrior God of Elbaph, who is almost certainly Douzan.

As Elbaph’s God of War, Dorry admits, “I simply wasn’t favored by the gods… that’s the whole story!” (from One Piece chapter 119).

I’ve been digging into the history, and it’s incredible! Douzan, the old Warrior God, seems to have been the one shielding our land from threats like Nerona Imu and other ancient evils. Sadly, Imu eventually killed him, and ever since, Ragnir’s been waiting… waiting for Loki. Now, Loki’s stepped into Douzan’s role – he’s the new Warrior God of Elbaph! It’s amazing to think that together, Loki and Ragnir are planning to take down Nerona Imu and finally break the king’s hold on the world. If they can actually do it? That’s the big question, isn’t it?

“Ragnir! So thou stayed as thou were in the past, waiting for a new master to come along. How familiar thy sight is!” — Nerona Imu, One Piece Chapter 1182

Ragnir, Loki, and even Sun God Nika (who appears as Monkey D. Luffy) give them a strong chance of winning this fight. However, I don’t think Nerona Imu will be defeated here. He’s clearly important for the upcoming Great War, which is being set up by the Elbaph Arc – this was officially revealed in One Piece Chapter 1046.
