Best Ways to Get Skill Points in Forza Horizon 6

Earning Skill Points (SP) in Forza Horizon 6 is a fantastic way to rapidly gain XP, credits, and valuable Wheelspin rewards. The good news is you can earn lots of SP using a variety of cars and techniques, and we’ll guide you through how to do it.

Here’s a guide to the best ways to earn Skill Points in Forza Horizon 6, plus recommendations for the fastest cars to use. This will help you get the best upgrades and gear, though winning races still depends on your driving!

Best Way to Farm Skill Points in Forza Horizon 6

  • The best way to farm skill points (SP) in Forza Horizon 6 is by playing custom EventLab tracks.

Other players create these routes to get the most SP, XP, and credits possible. They’re typically straight paths filled with things you can crash through, allowing you to build up your skill chain quickly with almost any vehicle.

You can find lots of user-made designs in the Creative Hub, specifically within the EventLab Event Blueprints section.

Game developers sometimes remove custom maps that cause major problems, so we won’t share specific map codes because they might quickly become outdated. The best way to find great maps is to simply browse Trending Events, where you’ll find plenty of current options.

These tracks usually take about a minute to complete and give you 10 Skill Points each time. Speed is key, and using one of the cars we suggest will help you achieve it.

You could set up auto-steering to finish these tasks without actively playing, but I don’t really recommend that kind of repetitive grinding. Just enjoy the game normally with one of the suggested cars, and you’ll earn enough SP quickly.

Tips for Free Roam Skill Point Farm in Forza Horizon 6

Pay Attention to Skill Songs

Radio stations in Forza Horizon 6 occasionally play songs that temporarily boost your scoring potential. When these tracks play, your maximum score multiplier jumps to 10x, and you earn skill points much faster with any car. This means you can potentially earn 10 to 30 or more skill points during a single song, which usually lasts between 3 and 5 minutes while you’re driving freely.

Unlock Extra Life Perk

The Extra Life perk is found on every car in Forza Horizon 6’s Car Mastery system and costs 25 Skill Points to unlock. Once activated, it allows you to crash once without breaking your skill chain – it now takes two crashes to end it.

This is really helpful when earning skill points while driving around the open world, so don’t overlook it. Ideally, you should get at least one car from the suggested list and fully unlock its upgrades, including the Extra Life perk, to get the most out of it.

Some cars require up to 100 skill points to fully upgrade, but many can be improved with far fewer.

Best Map Area to Farm SP in Free Roam

Honestly, I’m finding Japan in Forza Horizon 6 way better for just cruising around and racking up skill points than Mexico was in FH5. There are tons of awesome places to farm them. Plus, almost everything – like, every tree – you can smash, so you’re way less likely to accidentally break a long, sweet skill chain. It’s just smoother sailing!

I’ve found that the area marked with the red circle on the map – near where the Horizon Festival begins – is fantastic for continuously earning Skill Points while driving around. It’s a great spot because you have a clear view of everything, lots of open space for drifting, hills for jumping, and plenty of trees and fences you can crash into to rack up points.

When using this technique, it’s best to choose one of the cars listed below and make sure you’ve unlocked the Extra Life perk, just to be safe.

Spend Your Skill Points

Keep in mind you can only earn a maximum of 999 skill points. Don’t hoard them! Regularly use them to upgrade other cars – doing so will earn you extra XP, credits, and Wheelspins.

It’s always a good idea to have some cars you can upgrade with Skill Points. Generally, Barn Finds, Treasure Cars, Forza Edition cars, and vehicles with Legendary rarity give you the best options for unlocking extra perks and rewards, so focus on those first.

Best Cars for Skill Point Farm in Forza Horizon 6

Subaru Impreza 22B-STi Version 1998

The Subaru Impreza 22B-STi Version is widely considered the best car for earning skill points in Forza Horizon 6. It’s relatively inexpensive, costing only 86,000 credits at the Autoshow, and has a unique and powerful perk called Multi Maxer that gives you a 9x bonus to skill point gains.

Okay, so this car is a total game changer for me. I can basically ditch the stress of constantly hunting for skill songs while just driving around, and actually enjoy exploring the world. Not only does it have a special multiplier, but it unlocks Super Wheelspin and this awesome perk called ‘Where The Fun Begins’ – it makes my skill multiplier build up 2.5 times faster! Seriously, it’s the best thing ever for racking up skill points, hands down.

To get the maximum skill points from a single skill chain in the Subaru Impreza 22B-STi Version, you only need about 56,000 points when using the 9x multiplier. This is much lower than other cars, which typically require 100,000 points (with the standard 5x multiplier). Even cars with a 7x multiplier need 72,000 points to achieve the same result.

The Subaru Impreza 22B-STi Version is already quite effective for SP farming, but I suggest further enhancing its performance with robust custom tuning, as shown in the image above.

I like using a tuning setup from the All Time Greats presets called ‘top S2 class tuning’ – its share code is 122 378 124. It costs about 56,000 credits, but it makes the Subaru Impreza 22B-STi incredibly fast and, more importantly, easy to handle.

Mercedes-AMG ONE 2021

The Mercedes-AMG ONE is a fantastic, fast car and a great choice for earning skill points. While it’s expensive, many Forza Horizon 5 Game Pass players likely received it as a loyalty reward, so you might already have it!

The Mercedes-AMG ONE is a top-tier S2 class car that’s easy to control thanks to its all-wheel drive. It offers a significant reward – a 7x multiplier that can be unlocked – plus extra bonuses like Super Wheelspin and three additional Wheelspins, making it a great car to fully unlock and maximize its potential.

Ford F-150 Raptor R 2023

The Ford F-150 Raptor R is a relatively affordable option at 110,000 CR from the Autoshow. Like the Mercedes-AMG ONE, it offers a 7x multiplier during skill chains, and also gives you a 25% XP boost from using Skills while exploring the open world.

This is ideal for tough off-road driving, especially if you’re tackling rough terrain. However, you might want to improve its performance for faster speeds.

Any Forza Edition Car (FE)

Forza Edition cars are also excellent choices for earning skill points. They have strong skill trees with helpful bonuses for increasing your SP gains, and each one offers an additional bonus focused on speed, stunts, wrecks, or drifting.

Forza Horizon 6 features a total of 18 Forza Edition cars. You can find some of these cars by spinning the Wheelspin, while others are easier to obtain – either by finding them as Aftermarket parts or unlocking them as you play the game.

If needed, you can always try your luck at the Auction House to get at least a couple of these.
