In the style of Soulslike games, The First Berserker: Khazan offers numerous tough boss opponents for players to face during their journey. Some of these adversaries can be defeated with strategic parries and attacks, but not all will go down quite so effortlessly. Given how swift and precise the core combat is in this game, each battle encounter is incredibly enjoyable, even though earning precious Gold and Lacrima after overcoming a boss is anything but a leisurely stroll.
In The First Berserker: Khazan, bosses might move quicker than expected compared to other Soulslike games. Plus, they’re not just speedy but also surprisingly resilient. If they have a special trick as well, the battles can be quite challenging, yet overcoming them is incredibly satisfying. So let’s delve deeper into the toughest opponents in The First Berserker: Khazan, to understand what makes them so formidable.
8. Bellerian
Bellerian Has Plenty Of Tricks That Can Catch Khazan Off Guard

- Mission: Hermit Mountains
The challenge in defeating Bellerian lies in her vast array of abilities she can employ during combat. One instant, she might erect a shield to ward off harm, the next, conjure a horde of floating skulls chasing Khazan, inflicting damage as they pursue. This makes it simple to be thrown off balance while attempting to breach Bellerian’s defenses, and with her agility making combos difficult to land, Bellerian proves to be an arduous and exacting adversary in battle.
It’s fortunate that, much like other mages in the game, Bellerian has low resistance (poise), allowing Khazan to potentially disrupt her spell-casting if he manages to get close enough. Timing a Brutal Attack precisely at the opportune moment is vital for dealing damage to Bellerian’s massive health pool during this intense battle, as it can help deplete her health significantly.
7. Corrupted Elamein
With A Durable Shield And One Heck Of A Charge Attack, Elamein’s Corrupted Form Is Tricky To Take On

- Mission: Devoured Village
Although initially working alongside Khazan at the game’s beginning, players eventually encounter Elamein who has been tainted by Chaos. This transformation leads to a confrontation where button-mashing tactics will prove ineffective against Elamein, as she prefers to guard herself with her shield against strong sword swipes and attacks.
As a gamer, I’ve found the best approach when trying to land a combo on Elamein is to surprise her during her attack, making it easier if a Spirit has joined the fray. However, it’s not as simple as it sounds because Elamein can strike back with a lightning-fast extended stab and some rather deadly Area of Effect attacks. To survive these electric shocks, carrying items that resist electrocution is essential, and mastering the Brink Dodge at the right moment will help me manage those damaging blows.
6. Princess Ilyna
Trying To Fight Ilyna From Range Is Never Going To End Well

- Mission: Strange Melody
In combat, dealing with Princess Ilyna becomes challenging at medium to extended distances due to her extensive array of spells. Some of these spells are lightning-fast, while others home in on targets. If the player doesn’t attempt to close the distance rapidly, their health bar can be depleted swiftly by Ilyna. Additionally, many of her attacks increase Chaos, which temporarily reduces Khazan’s maximum health.
When it comes to Ilyna, despite being primarily a long-range combatant, she possesses an astonishing dash attack that swiftly carries her across the screen in the twinkling of an eye if she notices Khazan attempting to escape. Her rapid-fire quick blade jabs are tricky to block due to her lightning speed at delivering them one after another. To conquer the formidable Princess Ilyna, players must stay vigilant and be ready to capitalize on any chances that present themselves when engaging with her.
5. Reese
Avoiding A Barrage Of Spells While Also Finding Opportunities To Throw Out Attacks Is No Easy Task

- Mission: Bloodied Sanctuary
Initially, Reese’s battle appears straightforward, but when her health decreases, Khazan’s old friend will enter a frenzy, launching lethal spells at her. What makes things complicated is that not only can Reese cast several spells simultaneously, but she can also use her wings for quick, unpredictable jabs and swipes, making her attacks hard to anticipate.
The exceptional ranking of this fight stems primarily from the second phase. Once Reese is fully corrupted by Chaos, she undergoes a transformation into a beastly form, which enhances her with powerful attacks. While in this form, her swings can be intensified when charged up, making it a blend of luck and skill to successfully parry at the right instant, given the reactive nature of these strikes. Since Reese can abruptly exit a combo whenever she wishes and inflict Chaos during this, adopting hit-and-run strategies is advisable when facing off against her.
4. Hismar
A Colossal Dragon Who Possesses Plenty Of Unpredictable Attacks

- Mission: Fall Of The Empire
In the course of a standard gameplay session in Khazan, players will run into some rather imposing monsters. However, none are as massive as the legendary dragon, Hismar. Despite its immense size, this beast is remarkably swift and can unleash a rapid series of attacks within mere seconds. Moreover, players won’t be able to employ the common tactic of hiding beneath the monster to evade attacks, as Hismar can use its knees to squash anyone attempting to outsmart it. Additionally, the sheer size of Hismar poses another challenge, as many of his attacks can build up off-screen, making it tricky to foresee what’s coming next.
Avoiding a direct confrontation with Hismar may lead to catastrophe, so it’s smarter to focus on dealing significant damage, particularly to his head initially. Once Hismar ascends into the skies, he becomes challenging to combat, especially when he begins causing Chaos. Therefore, understanding his standard ground attack routine first can help in parrying him more effortlessly.
3. Maluca
The Grizzled Dual-Bladed Warrior Is No Joke On The Battlefield

- Mission: Veiled Knives
Without a doubt, Maluca has been toned down since the game’s launch because he was excessively powerful. However, despite the update, this relentless swordsman remains one of the most challenging bosses in the game. While the initial phase of combat can be handled with some pressure and careful avoidance of his sword attacks, it’s the second phase that has left many players scratching their heads.
In his second phase, Maluca significantly increases his speed, pulling off flips and jumps after each attack to evade counterattacks. Moreover, some of his attacks are so powerful they can alter the environment itself – one even generates a sandstorm to reduce visibility. To add to this, his combo strings are lengthy, making it challenging to parry every attack due to their sheer number. Items like Rings, Chaos, and Resistant Necklaces can offer aid in this battle, but ultimately, the player’s combat abilities will be put to the test during this tough confrontation.
2. Trokka
Trokka Has No Shortage Of Deadly Tricks Hidden Up Her Sleeve

- Mission: Witch’s Castle
The primary challenge in defeating Trokka lies in her diverse arsenal of attacks. It’s tough to predict what unexpected move this enigmatic magician might unleash after each spell. She can hurl a cluster of perilous jellyfish, launch a volley of projectiles, or even create an icy path – adapting her combat style on the fly makes it hard to react effectively to Trokka’s attack pattern.
This battle is just the beginning, and things will grow increasingly complex as it progresses. For instance, Trokka has an incredibly potent move where she soars across the map, firing a continuous barrage of projectiles at you to dodge while simultaneously scattering jellyfish mines throughout the arena, leaving Khazan with very little space to move. Luckily, some of Trokka’s basic moves can be disrupted by stunning her, but if players haven’t upgraded their weapons sufficiently, they might face a challenging situation.
The fight is just starting, and it will get more complicated as we go along. For example, Trokka has a strong move where she flies around the map shooting lots of projectiles at you to dodge while planting jellyfish mines that make it hard for Khazan to move. However, if players haven’t upgraded their weapons enough, they might find the fight tough.
1. Ozma
Players Should Be Prepared To Pick Up More Than A Few Debuffs When Fighting The Mighty Ozma

- Mission: Master Of Chaos
Initially, Ozma might appear rather leisurely, but soon enough he’ll unleash powerful area-of-effect (AOE) blasts that usually bring about harmful aftermath such as Chaos, Flame, or Frost. This makes approaching him closely a potentially hazardous move, since his massive and deadly slashes are hard to dodge by merely sidestepping or rolling.
Despite primarily employing his sword for offensive maneuvers, Ozma can also leverage his massive wings against ranged adversaries as a backup strategy, making him even more formidable. It’s wise to maintain a safe distance when Ozma starts charging purple energy; this move is lethal and should be avoided at all costs. Additionally, keeping some potions on hand for countering his debilitating effects is advisable. Be warned, though: Ozma’s ultimate form boasts incredible power and speed, disguised by his tentacle-like wings. Only the most skilled players stand a chance of defeating him in one go.
