Xbox Exclusive RPG Should Have Been Released on PS5 By Now

On April 17th, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle arrives on the PlayStation 5, sparking curiosity about whether any freshly launched Bethesda games might follow suit and transition to the console.

Apparently, that game should have already been released on the PS5 alongside its first expansion.

In a recent episode of the Xbox Two podcast, Tom Warren discussed that Starfield was initially intended for simultaneous launch with its initial expansion on the PlayStation 5.

“They have been working on it for a while,” Warren mentions, “should it should be ready.”

During the broadcast, co-host Rand al Thor 19 additionally pointed out that Forza Horizon 5 was initially intended for a launch on PlayStation 5 last year. However, it has now been rescheduled and is expected to drop on the PlayStation 5 this coming spring.

It poses a challenge for these games to be similar to titles such as E-Day, Fable, or State of Decay, if we wish to make them available on PS5 too, since they were initially released for Xbox with specific launch dates. Does this mean that the development teams are given extra time to fine-tune the Xbox versions while working on a PS5 port? Occasionally, they might choose to release a game like Indiana Jones first on Xbox, followed by a release on PS5 three or four months later.

Expect More Xbox Games To Come To Other Consoles

There’s been talk about Xbox planning to share its video games with other gaming platforms. Rumors suggest that titles like Starfield, Flight Simulator 2024, Fable, Halo, and more may be playable on the PS5 and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 as well.

Phil Spencer, in a recent confirmation, stated that they have no intention of keeping their initial in-house video games limited only to the Xbox platform.

Our approach involves making games accessible, not restricting them from platforms. Taking games off platforms isn’t an option for us; it doesn’t suit our goals. Instead, what we’re currently pursuing allows us to create the optimal platform for top-tier global games.

This year, you might see Indiana Jones and Forza Horizon joining the PlayStation 5 family, so keep an eye out for more first-party Xbox games potentially making a similar move.
