Pokemon GO: How To Beat Giovanni In April 2025

In April 2025, Giovanni has returned to Pokemon GO, now commanding even more formidable Shadow Pokemon. While his Shadow Pokemon from last month remain unchanged, it’s crucial to gear up for battle as Giovanni is the main boss of Team GO Rocket and boasts some of the strongest Shadow Pokemon in the game.

To conquer Giovanni in the game ‘Pokemon GO’, you need to follow a sequence of events first. Start by locating and defeating several Grunts, which will grant you a Rocket Radar as a reward. The leaders, Sierra, Arlo, and Cliff, are also part of this lineup. After overcoming these challenges, you can craft a ‘Rocket Radar’ that will guide you towards Giovanni. However, be prepared for a tough battle against him, as it requires in-depth game knowledge and powerful counter strategies. This guide specifically focuses on defeating Giovanni in April 2025 using potent Shadow Pokemon counters.

Pokemon GO – All Giovanni Shadow Pokemon (April 2025)

In a three-round battle, Giovanni owns five Shadow Pokemon. For the first and final rounds, he has one Shadow Pokemon each, while for the second round, he can choose any of the three Shadow Pokemon from his selection. To create an effective counter team, it’s essential to understand the typing of all the Shadow Pokemon you may encounter.

2nd Round

  • Shadow Nidoking
  • Shadow Kingdra
3rd Round Shadow Palkia

Pokemon GO: Best Giovanni Counter Team (April 2025)

A top-notch team to defeat Giovanni in Pokemon GO consists of Machamp, Swampert, and either Xerneas or Togekiss. Given that Giovanni’s first pick is always the Normal-type Persian, you can take advantage of its Fighting-type vulnerability with Machamp. If Giovanni chooses Machamp again for round two, Machamp can be utilized repeatedly.

In the second round of our Pokemon GO battle, if Nidoking kicks things off, I’ll pick Swampert. His Ground and Water-type strengths will make quick work of Nidoking. Since Kingdra is vulnerable to Fairy-type attacks, Togekiss can take it down. Plus, Togekiss can hold its own against Palkia too because its Fairy-typing overpowers Palkia’s Dragon-type in the final round. If I have Xerneas handy, I’ll use it to tackle both Kingdra and Palkia!

Although the team led by Giovanni’s Pokémon is formidable, it’s worth noting that you can still defeat his Shadow Pokémon roster from April 2025 using various other Pokémon.
